If you want your children to feel successful about art, to really enjoy themselves, and to learn about art techniques, you need to provide them with authentic experiences and supplies. I'm not saying to go broke buying things (because you could!), but it is better to buy less quantity at a higher quality. The higher quality art supplies usually last longer and give much better results. This means your children will have much higher gains from their experiences!
One of the issues that people usually have is that children do not take good care of things, so they buy them cheap "kid quality" items. Then, when they break and/or lose them the parents do not feel that they have lost money and they can replace them easily. But, what is this teaching the children? That it is okay to disrespect their belongings. That their parents/family have little faith in their abilities to be responsible. And, with art supplies, it teaches them that art is less satisfying than it could be. (those with art backgrounds will understand)
Instead, buy them higher quality items, teach them to respect and appreciate them, and they will have life-long benefits. If your attitude shows the quality and value of it, the children will follow along...even if it takes some practice. Have faith in your kids and provide them with beautiful, real art supplies.
FYI, Rose Art is a very cheap brand. Do a little research and you can find high quality items at a reasonable price.
