Customer Review: great sculpt, horrible assembly

I don't really like dragons (still don't) but the color and sculpt of this eternal dragon clan from mcfarlane had me mesmerized the first time I saw it in a local K.B Toys store. Unlike other Mcfarlane dragons I've seen in the past, it was a figure of a dragon in flight over a beautifully painted woodland base. It was also not made in an odd pose like other dragons I've seen. So I bought it. All was well until I tried snapping the wings in. I was never able to do so. No matter how hard I pushed (with 2 people one time) they simply would not go in. AFter some scratches and discoloring of the figure later, I resorted to heating the plastic under a lamp, which resulted in ruining the plastic and the paint job (sigh)... I've heard of quality control problems from mcfarlane's figures but this was simply unbelievable. So I used a metal file to file off the nobs on the wings until they fit in and superglued them in place. but the nobs aren't part of the wings and were pivoted....the wings drooped and didn't stand up, so I had to articulate it in a way that the dragon's tail and elbows support the pivots so that the wingtips actually don't touch the surface of my display and have it actually look like the gorramn thing is flying.....sigh. But after all that.....it looks very good on my book shelf so....three stars.
