Customer Review: One grunt by himself is not much of a threat...
Summary: 4 Stars
The Grunt makes a fun addition to a Halo army or display. He's very nicely detailed and seems to be of appropriate scaling to the rest of the units in the game. He comes with the Double Kill medal, a Plasma Rifle, a Plasma Pistol, and a Plasma Grenade. Features include lots of articulation and a removable methane mask (held on by one of those transparent semi-rubber band thingies).
Now, let's talk downsides.
(1) The Plasma Pistol that came with my Grunt was pretty bent in the package. The lower plasma guide was pretty much at a right angle to the upper guide. Sloppy packaging there.
(2) The methane tank on his back is not removable, unlike the Grunts from the newer Halo: Reach series. Or at least I couldn't find a way to remove it.
(3) While he comes with a Plasma Grenade, he has nowhere to store it on his body. Meaning that unless you have another character with an open weapon hole, it'll get lost.
(4) Even though he does come with two weapons (the Rifle + Pistol), he can only hold one at a time with nowhere to store the other. This is due to his left hand being too open (as opposed to a lot of the characters' hands being too tightly closed).
(5) The fins on the Plasma Rifle were seriously bent. It just looks bad.
Possible downside: I have not yet taken off the transparent rubberband thing, so I'm not sure how well the breathing mask will stay on his head.
If you have other characters, downsides 3 & 4 become not really an issue. Overall, I'm happy with the Grunt as I have him set up in the classic panicing mode the Grunts display in the game.
