Toys and Games Reviews of Polly Pocket Polly-Tastic Jumbo Jet PlaysetCustomer Review: Polly Pocket Jet is a Flimsy Mess Summary: 1 Stars
I should've listened to the other reviewers. I really wanted this to work out, but I am returning this product after only one day of play. Like many others this year my five-year-old daughter asked Santa for the Barbie Glamour Jet. I waited too long and they became the hot item this year and missed out. Since the Polly jet was available, I persuaded my daughter to ask for this one instead. After opening it on Christmas, we put the wings and tail on and let her play with the fashion show runway just to get her started. It was somewhat difficult to maneuver for me and my daughter was even more frustrated. Once we figured out that the plastic pieces had to be exactly aligned, it was a little easier, but when the plastic bent, we could barely get the elevator up to the runway and once it was finally there, it got stuck. We really tried to make this toy work, but my daughter lost interest when it became more frustration than fun. I boxed it back up and will be returning this to the store as soon as I can. I am normally pretty undemanding on toys, (Kids are tough on toys. They break. They're not made to last forever.) but this one pushed me over the edge. If this toy were priced much less, it may be worth lowering my expectations and gluing pieces down like another reviewer suggested, but at this price, I expect it to work.
Customer Review: We really like this toy Summary: 4 Stars
I have never written a review but when I did Polly search on Amazon and saw how low this was scored, I was inclined to write so that others do not get discouraged by the other reviews.
First of all, I knew from the start that this was a toy that needed to be stationary. Its great that it folds up but come on, we all know that its totally unrealistic to think that a child could reasemble this. So, just go in knowing that it will need a set home while your child is interested.
I found assembly to be simple. We assembled it in bed one night, just my 5 year old an I. We superglued on several of the pieces that really didnt need to come off. That really helped alot.
Every little girl that has visited has loved it and we have had no trouble with it falling apart. Everything that is supposed to work, works.
It comes with tons of cute stuff. Several outfits, a polly, the helicopter. I think its a great value, esp with the dollars off. I paid 10 bucks more than its offered today and I still think it was worth it. I highly recommend.
Customer Review: Don't waste your money!!!! Summary: 1 Stars
I wanted to love this jet. It was a much requested Christmas present item for my then 4.5 y.o. daughter. Well, my daughter got the item she wished for, but truly it is nothing more than one major headache. I agree whole-heartedly with the previous reviewer: we are sorely dissapointed in its ability to just plain WORK! My daughter (now 5) and son (3) want to play with it desperately but get frustrated everytime; the runway never works, the plane stands up precariously and then falls over, (resulting in a yell of "mommy, please come fix this!") the wings and tails fall off constantly...it is nothing short of a nightmare, especially considering the cost. After 6 months I can say they'e played with it 3-4 times. I am finally just giving up and putting it in a give-away pile, with my daughter's consent (which says alot!) What could have been a great toy is truly one of the worst toys for the money that we've ever onwed! She still loves polly pocket, but will continue ot just play with the dolls at a table.
Customer Review: A Big Plastic Mistake Summary: 1 Stars
I originally explained to my daughter that she wouldn't like this toy as much as she thought she would because it would fall apart all the time. I ended up treating her to it for Christmas with money received from Mattel for recalled Polly Pockets, and although it was a terrible choice, at least I spent free money for it. As everyone else has pointed out, it does fall apart all the time (spilling any pieces stored inside all over the floor), and the parts aren't easy to reassemble. It is too big to store easily -- too tall to slide under anything but a trundle bed, and to deep and wide for any shelf. It has lived in a large basket in the closet for the last few years, and my daughter, who loves to hold on to her toys long after she is too old for them, has offered no resistance to giving it up, and has even gone to far as to *suggest* that we throw it away. This is a first, and I have to say well-earned judgment. (I bought my other daughter the cruise ship, which is a far superior product, btw.)
Customer Review: This plane has crashed. Summary: 1 Stars
I bought this plane for my 10 year-old daughter for Christmas 2007. She has played with this only about 5-7 times.
Each time she begins to play, the wings fall off or the helicopter pad doesn't click into position. Usually I spend about 15 minutes each time trying to repair so she and her friends can begin play. Finally, after much maneuvering, she and her friends play about 10 minutes, at which time something usually falls off our pops out of position.
I would suggest that if you decide to purchase this item (even though it is not worth the money), I would glue the wings and other pieces to save yourself future aggravation.
I would recommend buying the Polly Pocket limos/car or pool/waterfall sets instead. These sets usually cost about $10-$15 and my daughter loves them.
