Toys and Games Reviews of Pixel Chix DollHouse #2Customer Review: COOL! Summary: 5 Stars
Sort of a pared-down version of The Sims computer game, Pixel Chix provides grade-school girls with a virtual buddy whose every move they can control. Residing in a palatial Beverly Hills mansion, this Pixel Chick is a 2-dimensional LCD image imposed on a background with 3-dimensional furniture. Five action buttons on the front program the Pixel Chix pal to play, eat, change clothes, go out, or go to sleep, and "yes" and "no" buttons let girls answer the Pixel Chick's questions. As long as girls are playing with their chick, she is happy; but ignore her, and she gives her owner a lot of `tude by anxiously tapping her foot and clearing her throat. Attentive owners will continue to advance along the 5-level gaming system and accumulate more cool stuff for their Pixel Chix pal. However, neglecting the pal causes her to lose all her possessions and, eventually, her screen darkens and she splits. Connecting two Pixel Chix houses together lets virtual friends visit one another while hooking three or more together causes the pals to have a multi-caller phone chat or perform a dance together. While thoroughly entertaining for young girls, parents may tire of hearing the loud conga music or the word "Fabulous!" spoken over and over again. The house runs on three "AAA" batteries, which are included with purchase.
Pixel Chix pals are 2-D girls living in a 3-D world, totally unique, totally fun and totally cool! To interact with your Pixel Chix pal just "push her buttons" literally! Using the input buttons on the fashionable, handheld house, help your Pixel Chix pal decide all kinds of things, like what to do: play guitar or go rollerblading? Where to go tonight, on a date or to a concert? What to wear, a skirt or a tutu? What to eat, even when to go to bed. Your Pixel Chick pal will talk to you and tell you stuff.

My daughter got the Mattel Pixel Chix toy last night for her 7th birthday and she *loves* it. It's a bit expensive at $30 for a smallish toy, but it makes up for it in coolness. It is more like a virtual friend than a virtual pet, but works the same way - you feed her, dress her and play games with her, getting access to more items and games the more you play. But Pixel Chix is visually way better than the typical Tamagotchi thanks to its pseudo 3D look. Let your child check it out in "Try Me" mode at your local toy store and she'll probably get hooked like my daughter did. There are 3 different types of Pixel Chix houses to choose from and, according to the package, you can physically plug them into each other which allows the resident Pixel Chix to visit each other's houses and interact with one another.
I puchased this as a Christmas gift for my daughter. It was very high on her 2005 List! I just received it and was playing around in the "test" mode and it is adorable! Once you press any of the buttons a light comes on and illuminates the inside of the house. I was very impressed overall. She's gonna love it! :)

Pixel Chix are Tamagotchis but in the form of a modern human girl! The Beverly Hills Mansion has a dark green tiled roof, with curvy bits on. There is a pink framed window on the front of the roof with blue swirls all around it. The main house is blue, too. On the left hand side there are two windows, one on top of the other. On the right hand side there is a door with the house number on it. The house number is: 4954. The door is blue and quite posh and there are steps leading down from it to the connection slots, where you connect the Pixel Chix together. On screen, when the lights are off, you can see a little blue table with turquoise table legs. When the lights are on, you can see the table but behind it there is a blue chair with pink seat-bit and legs. At the back there is a posh sofa all pink, with pale pink padding. To the left hand side there is a blue flight of stairs with pink banisters and there is a window with a pink and blue border and image of the weather on it at the back. So, in her house she has: 3 shelves, a window, a sofa, a sofa-side table, a chair, a table, stairs, a fridge, a door and a plasma screen TV.
Buttons:
`Yes (Left)', `No (Down)', `Bed-time', `Feeding', `Dressing', `Games (Up)' and `Go Outside (Right)'
You can answer your Pixel Chix questions with the Yes and No buttons. When you click on bedtime if it is the day, she'll say "I'm not tired!" before sulking upstairs to bed. If it is the night, she'll yawn and sometimes take her cat in her arms and walk up her stairs to bed. There, you'll see the upstairs light turn on but you can't see through the window. She'll wee, flush the chain, walk over to bed, hum her tune and snore. Then the lights will turn off. If you click the Feeding button, if you're on Level 5 (like me!), then she'll ask you, "Shall I order out?" If you press Yes button, then she'll pick up her phone, dial Pizza Delivery, and say `Hello, One large pizza please, Thank you!", Then she'll sit and wait on the sofa and then there will be a ring at the doorbell and she'll open it and say "Thank you!" Then she'll take the pizza, sit down and eat it! If you click No, then she will get popcorn out of her fridge, and you can select any food you want! Watermelons, ice-cream, an apple or a packet of pop-corn, even a smoothie! If you click on the Dressing button, you can click on an outfit for her to go on a date, a party outfit, a roller-blading outfit, casual outfit, nighty with teddy, rain-coat, school uniform, sports outfit, bikini and a ballerina outfit! The food you can get is popcorn, 3 hamburgers, soup, banana, smoothie, hamburger, chicken leg, watermelon, ice-cream and an apple.
Games: There are 10 games. Here they are:
Roller blading, singing, dancing, fetch with a dog, give the cat its wool, catch the fish, watch TV, and phone someone, predictor ball, playing the guitar.
Outfits: There are 10 outfits. Here they are:
Casual, nighty, school uniform, sports wear, bikini, raincoat, party outfit, roller blading wear, ballerina outfit, date wear.
Food: There are 10 things for her to eat and she can order a large pizza. Here they are:
Popcorn, 3 hamburgers, soup, banana, smoothie, hamburger, chicken leg, watermelon and an apple. When she asks you "Shall I order out" you can click No or you can click Yes and she phones the Pizza Delivery and they arrive at her door with the pizza.
Bedtime:
When you send her to bed she takes her teddy or cat or dog upstairs to bed and the upstairs light turns on and that means that she is weeing, flushing, humming, walking and then snoring. Then all the lights turn off. That is how you turn her off, too.
Going outside:
Choose whether she goes to a concert or a date or a workout or just to hang out!
Connexion:
If you take the tab off and connect 2 Pixel Chix together then they can dance, sing and sweep together. They can dress together and go round to another Pixel Chix house.
Yes and No:
These buttons are for answering her questions and choosing what to do.
Pixel Chix will do other funny things as well!
I got the miami loft and the blue car. They both are so much fun! The girl switches from the house to the car. In the house she can eat,go to sleep, change outfits,do fun games, and go somewhere. I think it's a little expensive, but it was worth it! But sometimes that clock shows up and sometimes it doesn't. GREAT TOY!!!
At first, she's really boring, but when you go up a few levels she becomes a lot more fun. She makes cute noises, does some (repetiteve) common household activities, and is fun! I like the games, but it's really cute when she eats! She's really fun, but a little expensive. It is common for them to have glitches,so if yours does it's not just you!One of mine did and one was fine, worked perfectly. Good for long car rides- But make sure you play with her every day, becase if you don't she gets kinda scary!
I got my pixel chix yesteday what happan today is I was playing my pixel chix and all of sudden the screen was turning black and after that the girl was carrying a suitcase.
