Toys and Games Reviews of OthelloCustomer Review: Fantastic but not as Durable as it used to be Summary: 5 Stars
This is a classic, old-school style game that requires no batteries, just brain power. My 6-year old learned it very quickly and is now addicted.
My only complaint is that the board itself is not as well made as it used to be. There were clear plastic covers for the chips, which are not included on this version of it. It's a shame, since it's easy for the chips to get jostled out of their troughs.
All in all, a fantastic, must-have game!
Customer Review: Pleased, pleased, and more pleased. Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this game for myself when I saw it on sale at a flea market. I became addicted, and subsequently addicted four younger members of my family, in addition to my boyfriend. This game requires intense focus, determination, and the ability to explore long-term consequences. Since I lack the ability to follow through with this (or I did before I bought this game, anyway), this game is perfect for me. Kudos. My son loves this game, and he's six!
Customer Review: Combines best features of chess and checkers Summary: 5 Stars
Checkers and chess are the most common strategy games without any luck. Checkers is good because it's simple to learn. However, as you grow older checkers becomes too simple. Chess is good because it's strategy takes a lifetime to master. However, chess takes time to learn and there are many trick moves in the game.
Othello is easy to learn like checkers. However, is strategy is on par with chess requiring "a lifetime to master."
Customer Review: Mind explanding games for kids Summary: 5 Stars
The simpliest games can be the hardest. Easy learn. Hard to master. A simple game of attempting to capture board space by surrounding your opponent. Surround your opponent and every piece in line turns over to your color. The player with the most board in their color wins. Sound easy? Not by a long shot. A wonderful game to help teach children strategic thinking and the ability to view several moves in advance
Customer Review: A second to learn - a lifetime to master! Summary: 5 Stars
I almost did not get the game because of the two stars review that says the game is of poor quality. But then I decided to give it a try. This is a hit in our house and I have not noticed any problems with quality so far. You can neatly store the pieces right on the game board. It's true that the rules are so simple that you learn it in five minutes, but it does take a lifetime to master. A great strategy game!
