Toys and Games Reviews of Mattel High School Musical DVD Board Game 2Customer Review: 8 yr old LOVED her present from Santa! Summary: 5 Stars
HSM 2 fans will love this game. The Dance category is hard, since they show the dance clip, and you choose the correct sequence, but the 3 stationary pictures in each sequence choice often look very similar. It IS an improvement over HSM 1's dance category, where all they did was list the next dance move in sequence...I still have no idea what some of those moves are called.
The HSM 1 game had an extra where the 'gang' would teach the dance moves to 2-3 of the songs...that alone was worth getting the game. Unfortunately, this one doesn't. What it DOES have, however, are interviews with the HSM 2 characters talking about their time on the set, recounting little stories. This happens randomly during the game, and is an interesting diversion. I like 'Fulton' as narrator better than the drama teacher from the first movie. The game format is slightly different than HSM 1, but the basics are the same. You do have to work the remote more in this game than HSM 1. Definitely worth it for the HSM 2 tweener in your life.
Customer Review: Pretty good game, but I expected more Summary: 4 Stars
The game is pretty good. All the categories are of easy to average difficulty, until you get to the dance moves one. Are they kidding me??? My kids (and myself) get stuck in that category for quite a few rounds. In some of the clips, you don't even know who you should be watching, and the moves are so similar in the choices that you really have no clue. I have to say though, the game is tons better than the Hannah Montana game - which is a complete waste of time and money. Don't buy it - your children will be very disappointed with it.
Overall this is a good game, now we just try the dance moves category once and then move on.
Customer Review: Great for younger teens... Summary: 4 Stars
When I purchased this game, my son was into anything 'High School Musical'. He watched every show, every thing about the show, read the books, and wanted the game for a Christmas gift. I was disappointed in the game, myself. It was a bit cheap and low on items. But my son seemed to be very happy with it, so since he was the recipient, I guess it was a good choice. For the price, I was disappointed in the quality; for his reaction, I was glad I bought it.
He was a a young teen at the time of the purchase. He no longer has the game, but he enjoyed it for a couple of years before he lost or destroyed the game pieces....LOL
Customer Review: Good game, arrived beat up Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered this game because my kids wanted it and it was on sale for $2-3. Overall I'm happy, this kids love it and it works, but when I opened the shipping box, the game box looked like it had been run over or something, it was not in good shape. Since this was a fun extra for my kids it was no big deal, but if I had wanted to give it for a present or something, I would have been very disappointed. I guess that's why it was so cheap. But it would have been nice to know that ahead of time.
Customer Review: Fun game even if you haven't seen the movies!!! Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this game for my niece for Christmas, what a great buy!! I had never even seen the movies but we played for hours and hours, and she and I had none stop fun. We only had one problem...trying to guess the dance sequence was a little difficult. After trying 20 times or more to solve it, we can up with a plan. We would try three times and if we still couldn't get it we would take one step backwards and solve the question before it. Worked out great!!
