Mattel Lacking in Product Presentation - Holes in Fabric
Why does Mattel insist on poking a hole through every fine fabric costume on collectible dolls with a needle and thread or plastic t-tie? Just try to remove the doll from the box without having a snag in the fabric. I struggled to remove the doll without pulling the t-ties through the fabric. It made two holes/snags in each pleat in the FRONT of the gown. The doll dress is simply too long to fit in the box without wrinkling.
After the millions of dolls they have sold, could their staff devise a way to keep the doll in the box without having to sew the dress to the box?
If the collector wishes to display the doll outside the box, they must try to carefully remove the thread - which still leaves the hole poked through the fabric in front of gown.
Why would someone pay this much money for a doll with a with holes punched through the fabric?
Madame Alexander - a premier doll manufacturer years - has for years securely fastened their dolls with a simple ribbon or rigid plastic forms. Why can't Mattel do the same?

Description of Mattel Barbie 2007 Holiday Collector Doll
Ring in the holiday season with this breathtaking Barbie doll. She brings a whole new sophistication to the season, along with a touch of classic glamour. Decked out in elegant red velvet, the voluminous gown is accented with white faux-fur trim, black lace and a black belt reminiscent of Saint Nick's! Measures 13.25" tall.For more than a decade, Barbie has celebrated each holiday season with a special edition doll commemorating the year. Joining this tradition is the lovely 2007 Holiday Barbie. Barbie's elegant gown features a fitted, strapless bodice with black lace trim along the d?colletage, and a full skirt of deep, ruby red. The bodice and skirt overlay are made from soft, rich velvet that is accented with white faux fur and more black lace. Around Barbie's trim waist is a black belt with a crystal-accented buckle--reminiscent of something Mr. Claus might wear. The gown is removable--thanks to a Velcro back panel--so Barbie can wear something else after the holiday parties have turned into New Year resolutions.
Barbie's hair is in a half upsweep, with fat curls caressing her slender shoulders. Adorning her long blond locks is a complementary white fur headband. For accessories, Barbie wears a gold necklace with a snowflake pendant that has a small crystal twinkling in its center, matching snowflake earrings, long white gloves, and red shoes. Formal colors coat her lips and eyes, accentuating her perfect smile and flawlessly arched eyebrows.
