Customer Review: Cool Toy!!!!

I bought this for my 5 yr. old son in Amazon's frustration free packaging (I wish ALL toys came this way- cuts down on garbage and, of course, frustration since you don't have to deal with all those twist ties). He says "it is cool and does everything". Both my husband and I love to play with it alongside him. Even his 10 year old sister has fun imagining with him. There are so many compartments and different connections, and all relatively easy for little hands - and durable. This toy is great for firing little imaginations and is a great teachable toy as well. My son asks so many questions about it, and we go online to look up what the toy has sparked an interest in him about. The one minor problem is that the rocket shooter on the alien ship stopped working five minutes out the package. I think the spring got jammed. I plan to write Mattel to see if they will take the damaged one back and send a new one. Even with that though, I HIGHLY recommend this toy, and my son (after I defined recommend for him) said "Oh YEAH! Everyone wants it, it's cool!"Customer Review: Worth the wait

I ordered this in March and was sent an e-mail within a week or two that it was on back order. I waited 4 months for it to become available, ignoring the e-mails Amazon sent suggesting I could cancel the order. Since arriving last week, my five year old son has barely looked at any of his other toys. He has developed intricate stories around the many different parts of the toy, which includes rocket, space shuttle, launcher, UFO, and can be mixed and matched to more varieties of space ships than he will ever need. The entire line of Mega Rig toys have proven to be one of my best investments for encouraging my son's story telling skills. Their are so many things you can do with them and they are easy for a five year olds strength and abilities. There are many small parts that require you to keep track of them, so get a small basket for safe keeping when not in use. If you lose too many of the small parts the changing forms of it are limited.Customer Review: Lives up to the hype

My [...] year old son was in love with this set the moment he accidentally saw the photos online while we were shopping for him. He calls it his 'Real Rocket' and has played with it over an hour every day since he got it - 6 weeks ago! He's reconfigured it countless ways, and sometimes for fun I give him another suggestion. It's really well made and it comes part/goes back together easily now for him. It was stiff the first few days, but after loosening up some of the connectors (and a few crash landings!) he's totally able to do it on his own.
He's lost many of the really small pieces, but there's enough medium/large pieces to keep him occupied and happy.
The only 'con' is that some of the doors come open too easily. Duct taped 'em shut and haven't looked back.
It's a little spendy for a toddler's toy, but he'll be enjoying it for months, if not years to come. Totally lives up to the 5-star rating.

My 5 year old got this set along with the Matchbox Mega Rig Space Rover for Christmas. These sets were easy to put together and have provided hours and hours of fun. The Space Shuttle set comes with parts to build up to 30 different space vehicles. Instructions are easy to follow (although you don't need instructions if you just want to be creative). The pieces are big and chunky which make it easy to pull apart/snap together. The alien and it's spacecraft are the perfect addition to an already great set.
This set was an even bigger hit with my son than the Lego Space Police space station... and with it's larger pieces, it cleans up nicer too. The only downside is I wish this set came with a case to store it all in. But for a few extra dollars, we purchased a big tupperware case for all our space gear. Definitely recommend

My son was rummaging through the toy bin at the thrift store and came across just a few of these parts; the front, the middle minus the doors, the rear booster and a pilot. I tried to convince him it was not a complete toy but he wouldn't be swayed. For almost a year now this has been his favorite toy. I know it had been someone else's favorite toy because any markings or makers marks were gone and it took me months to research and find out who made it. I had a clue when it fit so perfectly with his other mega rig toys! (dinosaurs are a big hit for 6 year old boys) I'm definitely going to be his hero with the complete set! Usually I rotate half the toys out to storage every three months or so but the space shuttle is the only toy he keeps full time. I love listening to the stories he comes up with for a few pieces of plastic.
