Customer Review: Great toy!

My 5 year old loves this toy. And my 9 year old (who is more into video games) has actually been enjoying playing with his little brother with this. There are so many toys within this toy that about 3-4 children could play together. The only piece that needs batteries is the alien ship, but really the sounds are a bit annoying (think the Jetsons vehicle), you don't have to put them in. The kids can just use their imaginations.
As for the frustration free packaging, it's my first experience with it. Honestly, I was a little thrown off and a bit disappointed that the toy didn't come in it's original colorful packaging, but arrived in the amazon brown box. Maybe I missed reading something, but I thought we would still get the box. I put all of the pieces and instruction sheet in a Christmas gift bag, and as far as opening this gift on Christmas morning, I couldn't have been more pleased. My son loved that he could pull the toy out and feel it and look at it and play with it right away. No box necessary. Kids don't need a box to show them how to use their imagination!

Customer Review: Watch out for "Frustration Free"!

[How can I rate it when it is still in the box?!]
I did not know what "Frustration Free" meant when I purchased this toy. The explanations were not there a couple of months ago when I bought this. 'Frustration Free" means all of the parts are just stuffed into a carton, all willy nilly. None of the original packaging is there! This might be all right for, say, a single electronic item, but toys, especially with many parts, deserve their own home! (And look on eBay: When purchasing a used toy, the condition of the box is as important as the item itself.) I called customer service and she said to buy the other version; that Amazon would refund my original purchase. Hah! They have raised the prices! Yes, the "no FF" is more expensive, but the version I bought is also higher. Am I disappointed? You bet. We are taking our granddaughter to the Tucson planetarium to a children's show about exploring in space. A lot of emotional satisfaction centered on this gift.

I ordered this in March and was sent an e-mail within a week or two that it was on back order. I waited 4 months for it to become available, ignoring the e-mails Amazon sent suggesting I could cancel the order. Since arriving last week, my five year old son has barely looked at any of his other toys. He has developed intricate stories around the many different parts of the toy, which includes rocket, space shuttle, launcher, UFO, and can be mixed and matched to more varieties of space ships than he will ever need. The entire line of Mega Rig toys have proven to be one of my best investments for encouraging my son's story telling skills. Their are so many things you can do with them and they are easy for a five year olds strength and abilities. There are many small parts that require you to keep track of them, so get a small basket for safe keeping when not in use. If you lose too many of the small parts the changing forms of it are limited.Customer Review: Mega Rig Space Shuttle

The toy is great. My nephew loves it. What he didn't love was the packaging, Amazon Frustration Free Packaging. I didn't realize what this meant when I sent the package. All the pieces was packaged in bags and were sent in a plain box. While this is nice for shipping purposes and the environment, he was disappointed because he didn't have pictures to reference. I see now that the page is much more descriptive on what that packaging means. Perhaps it was there all along and in my excitement of finding this toy I didn't pay attention.... Upon seeing the package in a local toy store my nephew commented "Wow...I didn't know my spaceship could do that!" Aside from that, the toy is fun, creative and durable. There are many ways of assembling the toy to make different toys. I wish he lived closer so that I could play with it too!!!Customer Review: Versatile and engaging

Got this for my 5 1/2 yr old, who likes building things, but won't stay at it for a long time (20 min tops)like other children do with legos and other construction toys. For my son this turned out to be the perfect toy to "build" without him getting impatient or resorting to dad/mom to finish the assembly for him.
He loves that he can create so many different versions and vehicles with it, and he also likes the space ship/alien that comes with it (makes "cool" noises).
Mom/dad like that he actually stays at it for as long as he needs to "complete the project"; that the toy is durable and of good quality; and it is not powered electronically and yet provides as much, or more fun, than other RC or electronic toys.
