Toys and Games Reviews of Harry Potter Wizard ChessCustomer Review: Can solve small board tipsy pieces Summary: 4 Stars
My grandson loves the pieces, but as other have said, the board is too small and the pieces unstable. My solution is to buy a soft vinyl tournament size board from various internet sites for $.... Also, I will fill bottom of pieces with plaster of paris and glue felt to the bottoms. That makes a top-notch set. Maybe the mfg will wake up and make it right so you don't have to fix it to have a good set.
Customer Review: Great for learning to play chess! Summary: 5 Stars
This is the best toy ever. My mom bought me other chess sets but I never learned to play. This one is fun to play. The only bad thing is that you need someone to play with you. It has easy step by step directions. I just got it this Christmas from my aunt and uncle. I have played it 50 to 70 times since. The pieces look just like the ones in the movie. I just love this toy it is so educational!
Customer Review: poorly made toy Summary: 3 Stars
Any game that gets children to think, as chess does, is obviously a great idea. That said, the pieces to this game are soft plastic and easily ruined. The board is cardboard, of course. This is just not a very well made toy. There are so many other nice chess sets out there for about the same price, that are of MUCH higher quality. Too bad the HP franchise chose to lend its name to this one.
Customer Review: LOVE IT - great first chess set for Potter enthusiast Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this game for my 8 year old Potter fan. He was enthralled to have a set like the one in the books and movie. He has spent the better part of two days learning to play the game of chess. This set was geared for CHILDREN not chess enthusiasts. It's a great first set - and if it gets your child doing something that involves logical thinking - more power to it :-)
Customer Review: Get your little Potter Fan Interested in Chess! Summary: 4 Stars
This is an adorable little game with authentic looking pieces and game board, just like in HP1. My four year old just had to have this. Now he knows how to set up a chess board and some basic moves. What a great way to get kids interested in chess! You need to buy this game. My one complaint is that the board folds into quarters to be stored and so sometimes does not lie flat.
