I bought this for my daughter when she was 4. She is now 5 1/2 and still loves to play it. Sometimes we play it as a family. Sometimes she plays with her brother or a friend. But she can play it alone also. It isn't a game that many of her friends have already. This makes it great to buy for birthdays. It helps to learn letters and numbers but that isn't necessary to play. She looked at the character's picture in the beginning. It gives the option for you to decide when the next number is called out or you can have it called out automatically. We prefer to put it on auto. It moves slow enough that she has time to find and mark the square. Love it.
