If only this toy were as entertaining as the commercial. How could I have been such a fool? This would be a great toy had I spent $50. Seeing as I spent ALOT more- I'm wishing I'd have gone with the $40 robot at Target. That said, this toy has a neat design...it just doesn't live up to the promises of interactivity. I'm not impressed that the various grunts and moans equal "100 different responses" as touted on the commercial.

We got the D-Rex for my 6 year old son for Christmas. We have only been playing with it for a day but it is really not that impressive. It looks pretty cool and it makes some fun faces and growls but that is about it. If I pay more that [...] for a toy I expect it to do some pretty cool things, this just dosn't. It was fun for maybe a half hour then my son got bord. He still plays with it off and on but really there is just not much to do with it.Customer Review: Super cool, but not Super durable.

My 8 year old son loved this toy, but only after using it a handful of times, the paint on the top of his head was peeling. Amazon provided the BEST customer service that I have ever encountered. They fixed the problem quickly and efficiently. Perhaps the "second generation" D-REX will have a thicker and more durable skin.
The concept is great, but cheaply put together.

We bought this for our 8 yr old for Christmas. It was fun for the first day or so. The facial expressions are priceless and it is durable and well made. Unfortunately it's abilities to entertain are limited, and once the novelty wore off, it didn't seem worth the price tag. I don't regret the purchase as it was my son's 'big gift' and he is very happy with it, my only regret is that it doesn't do more for what it cost.Customer Review: The King of the Dinosaur Toys

I bought this toy for my 7-year-old grandson. Despite the hefty price tag, it was worth it. He loves it, plays with it constantly, treats it like a real pet. And the amazing thing is, it responds like a real pet (minus all the drawbacks). Most kids get bored with toys easily, but it's been a month now and he's still into it.
BTW, I'm getting a kick out of it, too. I wish they'd had this when I was a kid.
