Toys and Games Reviews of D-Rex Interactive DinosaurCustomer Review: We love it! All the features are just as advertised, which is unusual these days! Summary: 5 Stars
My son is eleven and is completely smitten!
D-rex really is cute. I like to be around him! He even walks on carpet, unlike previous robotic dinosaurs. I like that he holds his remote controller, so it doesn't get "lost".
He indeed has a personality and sense of humor - D-rex even farts playfully; like an eleven year old boy!
He has a special sound if he's looking for you, and does in fact try to find you. You don't have to be right in front of him, either. Of course, he has to have an uncluttered route. He was confused when my son was on the other side of the dining room table - too many obstacles. He came to me instead, since I was close by, and not obstructed. I was impressed he was that smart.
My son calls him, "come here D-rex", and he comes!
My son really wanted this from Santa and he was not disappointed! It was his favorite Santa gift, and the only one he plays with regularly.
Customer Review: Broken Dino Summary: 1 Stars
It seems like others have not had this problem, but the Dino I got for my nephew was broken. With fresh new batteries, the thing made facial expressions, farted a few times, & took a few half steps (backward!) I expected it to march around and roar- but it could barely take 1/2 steps and mostly just "chirped" and shifted it's eyes around. As others have mentioned, the skin seems like it could easily tear. There was actually a little gap in one of the skin seams on this one.
On a pseudo positive note- I liked the size and look of it. If it actually performed like Nat Geo showed, it would be a fun toy. Luckily, it looks like Amazon will be refunding for my broken... but still sometimes farting rex.
Customer Review: Realistic T-Rex Summary: 5 Stars
Finally, a toy maker has used technology to create a remote control animal with realistic facial expressions, in addition to amusing movements. Both his cute and cuddly and fiercesome personalities are highly entertaining. My sons (ages 5 and 6), spent hours talking to D-Rex, asking him questions such as, "Did you ever see a volcano erupt?" D-Rex will answer, "yes," or "no" with a shake of his head. My boys were very impressed when D-Rex responded that he had seen a volcano! Since our boys bonded with D-Rex, he is one remote control toy that has stayed out of the box and continues to be a favorite well after he was first opened.
Customer Review: My 8-year-old LOVES this toy Summary: 4 Stars
I got this for my 8-year-old boy for Christmas. It has to be his favorite gift. He takes it with him places and demonstrates it to others, and plays with it like a real pet.
It requires 5 C batteries which were not included, as well as 2 AAA batteries for the hand control which can be expensive, but if you get some rechargeable batteries and a recharger, it is probably worth it for this toy and other battery-run items.
So far the novelty hasn't worn off, so we'll see how long his interest holds at this level. But it was well worth it to creat a great childhood Christmas memory for my boy, regardless.
Customer Review: Batteries are Not included Summary: 5 Stars
D-REX Interactive Dinosaur
D-REX is as cute as the other reviews say; However, The Batteries are NOT included!
The Product Description reads incorrectly: "Requires four "C" batteries, included, and two "AA" batteries, not included."
It should read ( as it does on the box): "Requires five "C" batteries in his tail and two "AAA" batteries in the bone-shaped controller."
Also, contrary to some, its reptilian skin is lifelike in appearance and seems durable.
