I'll give you the trouble spots first:
1. If you have small children around, they might swallow the pieces.
2. The pieces are very easy to lose, and losing even one piece makes the game virtually unplayable.
OK, now the good stuff:
1. Everyone to whom I've shown it has bought one for their own home.
2. It's the perfect game for small gatherings; everyone has a great time.
3. It's super-easy to learn the rules; very intuitive.
4. It's just hard enough to figure out good strategies that you get sucked into the game, and don't get bored of it for a long time.
5. It gets your mind working in a logical way, not quite the same way as chess or GO, but along those lines. (Think checkers, or Tetris.)
6. It gets people to be genuinely competitive, but in a good way.

I had viewed this game on Amazon, and found it intriguing. With a birthday soon I asked for this. Today, I got it, played it, and its one that will be coming out, many times.
The simplistic rules, very sturdy board, and vibrant colors are all well liked, and welcomed. For an individual with multiple medical problems, greatly effecting my mobility makes it hard to find things I can do.
The pieces are of good size, and fit fairly easily on the board. This is a big plus, many games with a playing table you have to click it into place, not here!
Instructions are colored, and easy to understand text. They show the correct, and non correct ways to place your bricks. The insert, and back of the box has this information. The one fault, if visually impaired, someone with better sight will need to read the rules, and how to play!

I was looking for a game to play with my children (10 and 15) and a foreign exchange student (21) over vacation. I found Blokus and after reading the reviews decided to buy it. Boy, am I ever glad I did. It is a great game.
It took us just a few moments to get the hang of it. Namely how to put the pieces on the board. After we played it once we got the hang of it and then we were off. The game itself doesn't take that long to play (as compared with say Monopoly). So you can play a couple of times in one sitting. You do need strategy, you learn as you play how to plan where you will put your pieces, how to stop someone else, etc. We laugh a lot with this game (I usually threaten to punish my children if they block one of my moves). It is great for all ages and loads of fun. Well worth it.

We have been playing Blockus since we got it...unfortunately, it really can only be enjoyed when four people play....the directions for 2 or 3 players require you to play TWO positions each or to share the remaining , untaken position...and play is then pretty awful...but what a game with four players..fun, strategic, lots of offense and defense all played an a great looking and feeling board...we have even taken to playing in the pool...with the board on a pool raft (all parts are plastic..). The game also depends on each player having 21 very specific and individually different playing pieces...and some are very small and I live in fear that one piece will be lost and the game rendered completely unplayable...except for the two aforementioned caveats, I love the game and it would have goteen five stars...Customer Review: Excellent for family and friends

This is one of the best games out there for friends and family. I am a collector of board and card games and this is one of my most frequently played and best loved games. Blokus take literally one minute to learn so it is very approachable by everyone. I have taught it to many people, always with excellent results.
If you only have two players, or limited space, you can also try Blokus Duo: Travel Blokus
For a little bit of variety, you can also try Blokus Trigon: Blokus Trigon
All of these games are exellent. Duo is the same game as Classic, but with limited space and with pieces for two players. Trigon uses triangles instead of squares as the basic building block.
