Toys and Games Reviews of Blokus Classics GameCustomer Review: Really great game for all ages! Summary: 5 Stars
I only bought this game because it was recommended to me time and time again. It looked boring and simplistic, but I figured there must be something I wasn't seeing. And there was! It is a great game! All of my kids can play it and challenge each other and me. This game does not necessarily favor the oldest(and supposedly wisest?) player. My seven year-old can beat the pants of me.
It also gets the brain working in non-traditional ways. You have to look at the grid in unique ways. The pieces aren't lined up in rows and columns like most games. You connect pieces by the corners. So sometimes you can connect a piece in an area that looks like it is totally bocked by your opponent.
And of course there is the strategy... I still haven't decided which is the best piece to start off with.
The game also takes a nice length of time, not too long and not too short.
Customer Review: If you love Tetris, you'll love Blokus! Summary: 5 Stars
This game, truly, takes minutes to learn, but I don't know that a lifetime would lead to mastery. The beauty of this game is that it's simple enough for our almost-5-year-old to play and enjoy, but has enough complexity that the most analytically minded gamer can easily wrap their mind around.
It is a great game for only 2 or 3 players (though all four colors have to be played every game), but the most enjoyment comes when 4 players are found who get into the details and try to define a strategy.
The four player mode is where this game shines - unless each player places the exact pieces in the exact order EVERY TIME, it is ALWAYS a different game.
If you can find someone insane enough to part with this game used, at a discount, don't hesitate to make the purchase. We love this enough that we're going to be buying it as gifts for the rest of our family!
Customer Review: Jewel-like mix of 'Go', and 'Tetris' - simple yet deep. Summary: 5 Stars
Blokus is a brilliant and addictive game. You place jewel-like variously shaped tiles on a silver colored plastic board. The visual appearance is beautiful and soothing. The turns tend to be leisurely, as each player thinks before placing a tile. The action on the board, however, is fierce and warlike. Like the ancient Japanese game 'Go', the action is all about taking possession of your enemy's territory along lines in grid. Like 'Go', the power runs along the corners - which takes a little getting used to. Unlike 'Go', the playing pieces in Blokus are all different and unique - which introduces a Tetris-like puzzle fitting aspect to the game play. In order to win you'll need to visualize how the pieces will fit into available space and plan ahead. You end up with a fabulous brew of tactical combat, and spacial puzzle solving with the visual appeal of a Mondrian-like mosaic.

Customer Review: BLOKUS is the best game EVER! :) Summary: 5 Stars
I collect board games and added this to my collection based on all the great reviews. I was NOT disappointed. The game is so easy to learn and every game is different, even if you play mulitiple times with the same people. I was very skeptical based on the directions and game description I read online but sometimes it's the simple games that you want to play again and again. The game dynamics can change with just one piece on the board and it's very fun formulating strategies. Everyone we've introduced this game to loves it as much as we do and it always manages to make it's way out on game night. The only drawback is you can't really play with more than 4 people and we don't like the game as much playing with 2 or 3 people. It's really meant to play with 4 players. That's the only drawback. Otherwise, I really want to play as I'm typing this. :)
