Toys and Games Reviews of Barbie 2009 Holiday Doll

Customer Review: Cute Barbie but not crazy about the packaging.
Summary: 4 Stars

The 2009 Holiday Barbie has really no feel of the Holidays but still has a very unique and "princess" like dress that seems to have catch my eye. The dress is mainly pink (3 shades of pink) and has a gold tint and gold bow that wraps around her. The Bow is big and the ends come out longer than the dress. The dress also has gold (almost look silver) and pink rhinestones. The earring (my favorite part of the whole outfit) are just beautiful, with the different shaped rhinestones and the plastic pink jewel that hangs (the jewel can fall off when being pulled the right way, but snaps on perfectly and isn't a problem for a collector like me.) The blond hair is styled beautifully with the dress and really shows off the earrings. The makeup unfortunately seems to harsh for me, but can change in different light. The style of heels are the only thing I dislike about the whole outfit, but are covered up by the dress and I don't seem to notice them very much.
The packaging is great for a collector who doesn't take them out of the box, with the 3 side window. But the way I received the box was in horrible condition. The plastic window was smashed and the bottom of the box was torn and open. The condition was just annoying, I don't know if it was the seller or the delivery but it was in pretty bad condition. Fortunately I like to take my Barbies out of the box and display them.
All in all, I think I would have been much happier with a non damaged box, but the Barbie is beautiful and is a great starting point for me collecting Barbies.

Customer Review: Pretty in Pink
Summary: 5 Stars

I got this Barbie at Kmart a couple weeks ago, and It's a good thing I went when I did, because they only had three left in stock, and she was on clearence. I paid $34 for this doll, and she's still in her box. I prefer to keep the Collector Barbies in their boxes. I love her dress, it's well designed, and the detail is amazing. She doesn't have rooted lashes like the Holiday 2008 Barbie, but Her eye make-up is still beautiful. She's displayed on my desk with my Holiday 2008 Barbie, and my Generations of Dreams Barbie. She is part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of Barbie, so she is a must have for your collection. The 2010 Holiday Barbie is coming out later this year, so the price on the 2009 Holiday Barbie may go down on Amazon, because the demand won't be a big as it will be for the 2010 Holiday Barbie when she comes out. I would have waited, but I just had to have her in my collection now.

(I'm straight by the way. I don't play with Barbie. I just collect them because I appreciate her beauty and the work Mattel puts into her. And I plan on passing my collection down to my daugher, if I am blessed with one in the future, and to show her the value of collecting.)

I recomend this product for your collection. She's a 50th Anniversary doll!

Customer Review: A wonderful holiday doll, done in true Barbie style
Summary: 5 Stars

One of my favorite Holiday Barbies yet, we were thrilled with how much more lovely this doll is in person than in the promotional photos. She is very glamourous, indeed.

Her make-up is quite heavy: runway-style smokey eyes, and heavily done lips and cheeks, even for the fashion queen herself.

But what makes her extra special is that her holiday dress is *pink*. I love it! The gown is actually layers of pink lamé, with several shades of bright and pale pink tulle layers over the top of the skirt, and an oversized lamé bow tied at the waist. I think it's quite couture, and quite possibly overdone, but only Barbie could carry it off. She's 50! Why not celebrate?

We deboxed this doll, and her hair actually stayed nice, too. I think she's lovely. Again, the super-slim model muse body doesn't pose very well. I wish Mattel would use the pivotal body more (I love to pose my dolls).

Also, you should check out the Barbie 2009 Holiday African-American Doll version of this doll, too. She is also simply lovely.

Customer Review: Beautiful doll!
Summary: 4 Stars

Purchased this Holiday doll for my 9yr old dd. The doll is beautiful, however this year the face screening has very heavy makeup - even for Barbie. Looking over the last 10 yrs of Holiday doll my dd has, this one is the heaviest IMHO. Overall the doll is very pretty though. The reviews are correct on the gown. Simply stunning!! I will say though, the quality of the packaging leaves some to be desired. The top plastic flap was all pushed out from the back and the back card board backing is all warped. Haven't even had the doll but 2 hours but this would not be a good reselling point of a NRFB doll!! For that reason I give this only 4 stars.

I was really pleased with this barbie and know that the little girl I bought it for will love it too. I did actually purchase 2 Barbie's since this one will need special care. I advised her mom that she should only let her play with this one when she is present. The little girl just turned 4. I was thrilled with the price too. I saw the same doll in Walmart for $10.00 more than I paid at amazon. This doll is definitely collectible.
