Toys and Games Reviews of Balderdash GameCustomer Review: Balderdash/ Definition: A Board Game That Is Guaranteed Fun! Summary: 5 Stars
Balderwhat? You may be thinking. Well, a good definition, (or...atleast A definition) for it is the game that's fun, entertaining, educational, and the game where your creativity can flow and go wild! It's very simple, someone picks up a card and it'll have a strange word on it. Then below is a definition of the word, and you tell everyone the WORD[not definition] and they have to think up of some zany (sorry, I don't know how to spell that word...it sounds like "Zaynee"...) definition of it. Everyone gives their slip of paper to the person who has called out the word and they read all the definitions. You vote for the one you think is correct. If you vote for, lets say a friend, and that wasn't the real one, your friend would move, not you. If you picked the correct definition you'd move up. It's wonderful, and involves a good sized group to play. It involves a lot of socialness too. It's wonderful, I'm a child, and I L-O-V-E this game! You will too! I reccomend you play it! It will guarantee a good laugh or two!
Customer Review: HILARIOUS!!! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of the funniest games out there. Sitting around at family gatherings, the board games always come out. My sister in law showed up with this one, and all the others got put away.
By the time you read this, you already know the premise: everyone writes their definition to a word, including the dasher, who knows the real definition, and then you vote. Voting for the right answer gets you points, getting others to vote for your wrong answer does too.
This is a game that can be played for hours, everytime, and is pretty much a sure-fire good time. The best definition we ever had was for the word succubus. I'll let you guess the real definition in case you get it in the game, but my SIL's friend's definition was 'What you yell at the bus driver when he pulls away as you're running to the bus stop.' Now, even when we're not playing, just yelling, 'SUCCUBUS!' is good for a laugh.
Customer Review: Games like Cranium and Rigamarole are even more fun Summary: 5 Stars
I love Balderdash. It makes you think and laugh. How perfect is that? But now that I've experienced games like Cranium and Rigamarole, it's hard to go back to a game that's just the same thing over and over. These newer games do an ever better job of getting the crowd thinking and laughing, and on many more levels.
Rigamarole, for example, has one game where you tell a story using the words on the card, but try to keep the other teams from guessing the words. They're funny words, like mullet, flamingo, or ignoramus. That's just one game, out of many many other games. I really like the more modern concept of multiple games in one box. WIth so many choices, something is bound to facilitate laughter and conversation.
So that's my vote. Balderdash is good, but if I have cool group, I always break out Cranium or Rigamarole.
Customer Review: Our #1 Favorite Party Game of All Time Summary: 5 Stars
We have game night at our house with friends quite often and no matter what games we try, both new and old, we always seem to end up playing Balderdash because we know how much fun it is. It never fails. We play with our own rules, though, which is not even using the game board so there is no winner or loser. We all put in our answers (sometimes we each put in 3-6 answers both good ones and silly ones) and then we vote on which we think is the real answer. The person who wrote the one that fooled everybody wins just by feeling good that they pulled one over on the rest of us. In 7 years of playing this game, we've never used the gameboard.
I'd say it's good for 8-year-olds and up and it's especially fun with creative people.
You absolutely can't go wrong with Balderdash. It's an absolute blast.
Customer Review: this game is a blast Summary: 5 Stars
There is nothing better then playing Balderdash with a crowd of innovative people. A player reads a card with the title of a movie, acronym, a date, word so forth and the other players must write down the meaning of it. For example the date may be may 4, 1978 and the players write down what they believed was memorable about this date. Then after everyone has written down an answer they are all read aloud along with the right answer and everyone guesses which one they think is right. The outcome-- some creative and utterly hilarious answers . This game is a must have for family get togethers. Its hysterical and imaginative plus there is the extra bonus of learning random facts. Most of the time you'll be laughing throughout so you wont know who wins. We have get togethers and there is never a dull moment once the game comes out.
