Toys and Games Reviews of Tekno Mega Mech R/C Robot 48-InchCustomer Review: What a fun toy!! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this on a whim because don't we all need a 48 inch Robot? I know I did and when it arrived I couldn't have been happier. We had it set up within 15 minutes out of the box and had the necessary batteries on hand. I suggest getting rechargeable ones if you haven't already, good for the environment and saves you money. Sony Power Battery Charger with 4 AA Ni-MH Rechargeable Batteries Okay now back to the Robot. He's not fast and he doesn't do corners well, BUT he does roll around my kitchen saying those same couple phrases over and over, entertaining our cat an our friends and I can say I have a Robot! It was a good purchase.
Customer Review: mercury batteries in this toy! Summary: 3 Stars
Purchased this for my techy husband and father-in-law. They were shocked to find this "toy" to give directions that the batteries included were "for demonstration only and should be replaced and disposed of" but only inspection of battery label showed their very high mercury content. It is important to dispose of these batteries as the true hazardous material they are, but as it is mercury you will not actually "need" to for a long while, since they should be very long-lasting, despite their toxicity.
Toy is fun, but consumers need to be responsible and question the advice to simply "dispose" of the demonstration battries. Please be responsible and take for hazardous waste disposal or recycling when used up.
Customer Review: Makes a great first impression! Summary: 4 Stars
My 4-year-old son received this for Christmas. He had wanted a robot and found this already fully inflated under, well next to, the tree. All of our holiday visitors have been impressed by the size of this toy. It has extremely simple controls that my son has had no problems working. The voice sounds are not very clear but he doesn't seem to mind. I believe older kids would get bored very quickly with this because it moves slow and doesn't really do a whole lot. It is inflatable after all. However, the younger ones (probably ages 4 to 7) will get a kick out of it. (Warning: my 2-year-old daughter was afraid of it.)
Customer Review: Fun but a bit fragile due to inflatable Summary: 3 Stars
The Mega Mech R/C Robot 48 inch by Tekno is a fun product for kids ages 5-7, but takes a lot of time to blow up and space to move around. Once it gets going, the kids love it! But as it's an inflatable, it soon started tipping over where it stood and continued to lean no matter how much air in legs. Needs some support for it to function and be sturdy enough for longer play. The speech was great the first time, but with only 5 variations, it also soon grew old for the kids. For the price, it was a good deal, and if your little one loves to have control and RC figures, it will be a hit.
Customer Review: A great big boy toy! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this robot as a Christmas gift for my husband. He loves it! It was easy to put together - just inflate with the included foot pump and snap onto the base. It's only two pieces plus the remote. It does require more batteries than stated in the description - 3 AAA for the remote and 6 AA for the robot itself. The plastic is a heavy quality, and we have not had any issues with sagging or falling over. The Robot is very stable. My friend's four year old daughter was fascinated by it on a recent visit. She loved to make it talk! It is a simple, fun toy.
