I bought this product for my two granddaughters who are 7-9 yrs old. They loved it. I had bought the beads that needed ironed in the past and did not enjoy having to iron them. These stick together with just water. Initially they followed the patterns but then they began being creative and making their own designs. I let them take them home and two weeks later their parents reported that they were making something everyday. (I did also purchase the 4000 beads for each). The device that holds the beads doesn't work very well but they can use their fingers to add the beads to the pattern. I made one too and it is very easy to be creative and have fun with these little "beads." I am not sure but I think the "beads" are made out of some type of colored glue that has been shaped and dried, adding the water spray and letting them redry makes them "bond" together. Anyhow, it's much safer than ironing and a lot more fun to be able to make them independent of adults! I think they are great but I am sorry to see that the price has gone up so much in such a short time.
