Toys and Games Reviews of Wimmer-Ferguson Infant Stim-Mobile

Customer Review: Endlessly Fascinating
Summary: 5 Stars

Although it took her about 3 months to even notice it, this mobile has proven to be endlessly fascinating to my daughter in the long run. When was she old enough to sit up and get tangled in it I took it down and secured another, very beautiful Flensted mobile from the ceiling for her to watch. Not knowing what to do with the Stim, I detatched the cards from the frame, figuring they'd make good, non-choke-y things for her to play with. Boy, was I right! At 14 months this is still my baby's favorite non-toy. She plays with these cards so much it kind of weirds me out. She scrutinizes them, turns them back and forth, methodically places them in boxes, and yesterday she discovered a new game: skittering them across the kitchen floor. What fun!

Customer Review: Could be good, but not usable for most infants!
Summary: 2 Stars

I presume most people plan to purchase this for the first couple months of their infant' life like we did...however, this mobile can only be attached to a crib (the attachment point requires a t-shape anchor with fairly wide slats). It can't be used on a pack and play, it can't be used on a standard bassinet. How irritating. What on earth were they thinking? Materials are quite flimsy and one even included an ad on the side of the card visible to the baby...very thoughtless. If this were more functional and could attach to a wider variety of objects, I would give it a higher rating, but how very inflexible of the company to make it only crib appropriate, particularly when it is intended for a child most people wouldn't put in a crib!!

Customer Review: entertaining
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought two of these, one each for my twin daughters when they were 5 months old. They're now 6 months and they still love it. One of my daughters will look at it when placed in her crib but wants to grab at it and suck on it more than just look. But I'm giving it five stars for my other daughter who absolutely loves it. When I put her in her crib she excitedly looks up at it and starts talking to it, never making a fuss about being put to bed. She'll lie there cooing and gurgling to it until she falls asleep. And when she wakes in the morning she lies there for a long time studying the different pictures and smiling at them, until I come to pick her up. I'm so glad I bought this one and not a silly one with music and movement.

Customer Review: Always catches her eye.
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this mobile to stimulate her with the early black, whites and reds infants see (1-4 months) and to help develope her sight. I put it above where I always change her on the couch and where I will sit her on her boppy. She always looks at it and now that she is almost 4 months is looking at the colors more. If I have in my lap near it she will turn her head to look at it. It has interchangable cards in black and white and color so you can change it up and rearrange so they don't get bored. Keeps her attention for 5-10mins. which is great to get a cup of coffee, go to the bathroom, etc. I would recommend this mobile, although it might be better if it rotated and played music as well but its good for what it is. -Maya's mum

Customer Review: A totally entertaining mobile!
Summary: 5 Stars

My son adores his mobile. He chats with it pretty much every night and every morning. Honestly, it is very simple and I am amazed that he likes it so much. I would not have purchased it unless a friend had recommended it so highly. And I am so glad I listened to her! The simple shapes and colors are apparently very appealing and engaging, judging from how much my son loves to chat it up.

Okay, yes, this mobile is not made out of the most durable materials (as other reviewers have noted). I don't find this to be a problem, however, because I don't want my kid to touch it! A crib mobile should be out of reach of babies. I just use some care when changing the cards and have not had any problems with them tearing.
