Toys and Games Reviews of Wimmer-Ferguson Infant Stim-MobileCustomer Review: Excellent for visual stimulation Summary: 5 Stars
Our baby has been fascinated by this mobile from the time we brought him home from the hospital. He is absolutely captivated by it. It was especially interesting to watch him look at it as it spun around and see which images he was most attracted to. I like that you have the ability to switch out different images so that the baby doesn't get bored. It is a fairly simple mobile, but has a wonderful educational impact that is lost on most other mobiles.
One downside is the mobile's durability and ease of use. It can sometimes be hard to attach and reattach the plastic discs, which don't really have a mechanism for attachment other than a slit/crack area. This doesn't interfere with the function of the mobile, however. As with any mobile, once baby can sit up (or reach it), it should be removed from the crib.
Customer Review: great idea, poor execution Summary: 3 Stars
I love the idea of this mobile. It's so hard to find a cool, educational mobile that is really designed for baby's development, but I was shocked at how poor the quality is. All of the cards were cracked and bent out of the package, the construction is very flimsy, and the arc is so shallow that it doesn't hang far enough into the crib. I had to put it on the shortest setting so that it doesnt hang right right down in baby's face (I have a standard US-size crib). I bought this mobile based on the overall Amazon ratings which is high, but seeing as almost everyone has had the same complaints, I dont know why it has received so many stars. I guess you get what you pay for, and the price is good. I wont be replacing it because mobiles are used for such a short time anyway, but I am rather disapointed.
Customer Review: Our daughter's favorite Summary: 5 Stars
Our 3 1/2 month old baby LOVES this mobile! Since she was about 7 weeks old it has been her favorite thing. She loves to lie on the changing table and kick while staring at it - sometimes for 20 minutes or more, which is amazing for her age. No other toy holds her attention like this. I agree w/ other reviewers that the way it attaches is somewhat clumsy (we have to use a cork to get a secure/tight fit); and some of the pieces cracked at the puncture point and can no longer clip on. But we absolutely love it. Our baby loves it still or moving. Great for visual development. She talks to it and goos and gaas and has a great time! Get one! Also, it would be fantastic if this mobile had a second way to attach or remain fixed so we could move it from the changing table and set it on the bed, etc.
Customer Review: Great, stimulating mobile Summary: 5 Stars
Deciding on a mobile has a lot to do with what the parents are looking for in the mobiles purpose. We looked at many mobiles trying to decide what features we wanted. After reading about the Montessori method, we decided to go with one geared to stimulate baby visually and physically. This mobile fits the bill! Baby enjoys staring at the images and I enjoy switching them out to keep her interested. It doesn't over-stimulate nor bore baby. As she gets older, I'm sure she will bat at the images.
I think most mobiles under or over stimulate. This mobile is a great tool for baby's development. Musical mobiles may be nice for some. I prefer using a CD player in the room and switching around CD's for baby's musical pleasure. We use a mobile for visual and physical stimulation.
Customer Review: Purchased an ornament motor to rotate the images Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this mobile when my baby was 4 weeks and she was not interested, likely because she could not make out the images yet. A couple weeks later, she loved it but got bored after awhile unless I manually turned it. After 30 min of turning, I couldn't take it anymore and bought a battery operated Christmas ornament motor from Amazon for just a few $ (even comes with batteries). It takes about 10-12 seconds to complete a complete rotation so it is slow enough for her to visually follow the images. Now she is entertained for awhile and I don't have to stand there turning the mobile. Roman Lights Ornamotor II Battery-Operated Revolving Ornament Hook. Would have given 5 stars if it had a motor.
