Customer Review: not too bad for what its worth

i bought this mobile after reading about how these types of patterns help infant brain development. its pretty cheaply made and with a little creativity and time you can make one yourself. my baby came before i got around to actually making one so i opted to just buy one. my infant is 2 months and she LOVES this thing. LOVES is actually an understatement but im trying to convey how important this mobile is to her by emphasizing the "love". we have it rigged to her swing and even when her swing isn't in motion she giggles and coos at it for a long time...meaning more than a few minutes. and for those of us with colicky babies a few minutes IS a long time. i have a love hate relationship with the pictures though, while great and interchangeable, only a few of the pictures can go on the bottom. meaning there are a lot of the pictures baby cannot see because they can only go on the top. also, it would be great if it moved, i twist it up sometimes so it moves and my baby loves that. all in all, its not bad for what its worth and with a little rigging it can be the greatest thing to your baby.Customer Review: Loved by Baby Though Not as "Pretty" as Other Mobiles nor Automated

We bought this when our baby was less than one month of age and put it over his bassinet. At first he didn't seem to notice it, but after about a week, he started looking at it and following certain the cards. At about two months, he started to coo to the cards when he wakes up and is looking at them as well as when we give them a whirl, and at three months he smiles when we give the cards a whirl.
Pros:
- Has black and white and color cards, so can be used for different stages. Early on, they are more interested in the black and white.
- Attaches to anything. We have it on a ovular bassinet and there were no issues there
Cons:
- The construction appears cheap because it's constructed of plactic, so if you want your nursury to be pretty, this might be a detractor.
- It doesn't automatically twirl, so you have to stand there and twirl it for the baby. We use it as a means to interact with ours. However, it means we have to be actively involved and not use this as a way to entertain without being involved.

Our three-month-old loves this mobile! Every time we put him under it, if he's feeling lively and not in a bad mood (i.e. wants to be held), he starts laughing and kicking like crazy. Here's a video of him, just to give you an idea of how babies react:

We received the mobile second-hand from a friend who no longer uses it, and even though it's made of plastic it held up pretty well. Most of the picture pieces were torn where they are connected, but not unusable. The plastic arm may look chintzy, but it connects pretty well to the crib. And despite the wholly plastic construction, our boy loves it so much I think it's worth it! After a few minutes he usually either falls asleep or gets upset (almost as if he's frustrated that the pictures won't come down and play).
My only criticism is that I wish it came with an alternate stand so that I could also set it up when he's in the bassinet or on his play mat, rather than only being able to use it in the crib. A brand new version may come with such a stand though, I can't say for sure.
Customer Review: A great mobile for infants !!

This mobile has been a valuable addition to my daughters play toys. My only complaint about the mobile is that it isn't very attractive and doesn't play music, it just attaches to the crib to be hung over your childs head. The great part about this mobile is that you can start off with white/black/red colors and shapes and then as your child gets older you can switch to the primary colors and shapes once they are able to distinguish the difference. This is good because they shouldn't get bored easily like with other mobiles where it does the same thing day in and day out. The other bonus is it is very easy to take on and off your crib so you can take it with you or attach to other surfaces! You can also take off the cards to use them as just that, flash cards for your baby while they are on their playmat on in the car! If they have a favorite you can always bring it along! My daughter just loves the little boys face!! I would recommend having this mobile and another musical one so you can switch it up to keep things interesting for your little one! Who knew something so simple is all they really need to be entertained. When my daughter was an infant she loved the red white and black, it is truly a creepy mezmorizing thing for infants! I have bought this as a baby shower gift ever since. I know it looks far to simple and when my mom gave it to me and I was putting it together I could not stop making fun of it!! But turned out my daugheter loved it! At 1.5 months I would but her in her bouncy seat, with the vibration off, and attach the mobile to the side, and she would stair at all the pictures forever - 30 minutes plus! After I was done with it, my sisters best friend had a baby that would screem whenever he entered the crib, never even giving it a chance, I let her borrow my mobile, as my daughter had grown out of it, and she loved it! Says it worked likea charm for both of her sons! It's a nice feeling to know that you have found something that your baby truly likes and is stimulated by at such a young age. It was the first thing that triggered that response from her! It was really neat to watch!
