My son has been playing with this toy since I got it for him when he was 10 weeks! He is currently 6 months and this is by far his favorite toy. It has helped him develop his "grabbing" skills and early on it was the only toy he could successfully bring to his mouth. It is lightweight, has bright colors, and the handles are very easy for him to grab. We had previously bought a "grab apple" from babies r us and my son had no interest in it. He wouldn't even grab it. I thought he just wasn't into grabbing or reaching for things until I got him the winkel!! After that he grabbed away and never looked back. If you are worried that your baby is not meeting the "reaching for things" milestones I suggest you try this toy.Customer Review: Brings out the Incredible Hulk in my four-month old

Okay, that didn't come out right. This is a POSITIVE review of this very handy, tactile toy that will probably withstand considerable abuse from your young 'uns. My son finds the colors attractive, and the design makes it easy for him to grab the toy. In fact, he loves to grab it at both ends and tries his hardest to pull it apart, resulting in loud grunts and shouts (and a little frustration!); hence, the "Hulk" reference. Good exercise for him, I should think. Another good toy I got him is Baby Einstein Bendy Ball but that one's a little heavy and not amenable to chewing or exercise.Customer Review: This toy goes wherever she goes

We bought this toy for our daughter b/c one time we were out with friends and their daughter was playing with this toy. Well when I wasn't looking our daughter took the toy right out of their daughter's hands and she started playing with it. She ended up getting mad and crying b/c I took it away from her to give it back. So the next day I asked my friend what the toy was and she told me. I typed it into google and saw the amazon had it. So I bought it. We can't seem to go anywhere without this toy. She is always throwing it, chewing on it and she is always carrying around. It seemed boring to me but my daughter loves it and thats all that matters.Customer Review: Yummo!

That title sums up my five month old's opinion of this toy. It has a wonderful rattle that isn't annoying or loud. My daughter can grasp any part of this toy and easily put any part of it in her mouth. Apparently it can also be refrigerated to make it cold but we have not yet tried it.
As with any toy, parent supervision is necessary. It is possible to get little hands stuck in the larger parts although it doesn't seem painful and may actually help with dexterity at the infant figures out how to extract an arm.
Bottom line, it is a wonderful toy. I would recommend it for any child who is learning to grasp things.

This ball is awesome!! It was the first toy that my daughter enjoyed playing with. A bit before 3 months she began reaching out and grabbing the ball. Its very easy for clumsy hands to get a grip. It took her a couple days but she figured out how to get into her mouth, she loved it! Now that she has gotten better with her hands she enjoys other toys like her peacock and firefly, but the winkle ball was the first toy she could grasp and manipulate. I bought one for a friends baby and he loved it too. I'd definitely recommend this toy for babies who haven't quite yet begun to play with toys, you'll love watching your baby practice their new skill!
