Toys and Games Reviews of Manhattan Toy WhoozitCustomer Review: Doesn't look like much but it is...... Summary: 5 Stars
When we first picked it up at a second hand place, a few moms in the area said that this toy was THE toy to have. I've never been the type to buy THE toy to have but now after taking the chance and buying it, I now understand what that means. It means when leaving the house it's the only toy I need to remember to grab!
We got it when my baby was 3 months old and she absolutely stays entertained with it. One thing about any toy is just because a child doesn't show interest in a toy that moment, doesn't mean in a month they won't show interest so always let some time go by and just see if their interest changes before giving it away.
The pink rings encouraged my baby to put her fingers through them and manipulate them. The green triangle she just loves gumming it because it's ridged. She just now at 5 months is attracted to the top yellow and red items that rattle and she shakes them. She likes the pink mouth and grabs it in a carry hold, helping her with dexterity. The nose she doesn't do much with but it does squeak when pressed so it gets her attention if I squeak it if she's upset. There is a little mirror under the nose I do wish was a little bigger but it gets her attention so I guess it does what it is suppose to. The back is a black and white bullseye and she really likes that suprisingly.
All in all, if I had to buy this toy new for the price, it is worth it seeing how my little girl is enamoured with it. Most toys you are lucky for a baby to spend 5 to 15 mins with it, on our car trips and out in public while eating, this does about 15 to 25+..so that is pretty long. I know no stuffed animal or any other infant toy I bought her even comes close to the time she spends with this one.
Customer Review: Caution with this toy and an infant and older child Summary: 1 Stars
I thought this was going to be the best baby toy we had. It had such wonderful reviews and had been featured on several of the Baby Einstein videos. Actually, that is why my son (then 2) chose it for a gift for his baby sister's arrival.
It was larger than I expected, but was still encouraged by all of the bright colors and assortment of tactile surfaces. The size ended up being the problem. My son gave it to the baby while she was on her mat a few feet away from me and almost smothered her with it!!!!! The toy COMPLETELY covered her face and is very plush so definitely could have obstructed her breathing. Even if my son wasn't holding it for her, she could have still dropped it on her face and then not have been able to get it off again.
I do NOT recommend this toy for children that are not old enough to have good control of their arms and cannot move a toy off of themselves.
Customer Review: Whoozit review Summary: 3 Stars
When my daughter was four months I bought her the baby whoozit and the full size whoozit because of all of the positive reviews. It's been two months and I'm kind of sad to say that at best she is kept somewhat occupied in the car with the baby whoozit (she likes to suck on the pink doughnuts) and at worst she is completely indifferent to the full size whoozit. I was hoping she would immediately love the toys so I could get about twenty minutes without having to entertain her, but I guess it's not meant to be. Also, one of the stars on the full size whoozit is about to come off despite hardly being played with at all. The baby whoozit is holding up nicely though, even after a washing. They aren't bad products, it's just that my girl doesn't like them all that much. All in all I would buy the baby whoozit again (it's a great size to keep in the car) but save my money on the larger size.
Customer Review: Excellent toy!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter received this as a Christmas gift when she was only a month old. At one month she already liked it--she would stare at the black and white target on the back and listen the rattle, squeak and crinkle noises as I showed it to her. She is now four months old and absolutely LOVES it!!! She can now hold and chew on the arms herself and it keeps her busy on the changing table. I think it is worth the price since it is so multi-purpose. "Mr. Whoozit", as we call it, can be used in the crib, in the car or as a snuggle toy. We take it with us when we travel because it is small enough to be portable, but entertaining enough to keep my daughter busy. I have a feeling that the toy I originally thought was so creepy looking will be her favorite! My only complaint is that the velcro ribbon attachment could be a bit longer since it can really only hang one way on the crib.
Customer Review: My daughter loves it! Summary: 5 Stars
We received this as a gift last week. My daughter is a premie, she is now equivalent to 6.5 weeks old. She loves it.
This whoozit looks like an octopus while the other side is in black and white target. The nose has a beeper, the feet rattle and make noise or could be rubbed to make noise. The eyes and feet are in different shapes. She likes the rattle noises and love to watch and track the whoozit for easily over ten minutes (long attention span for an infant).
My only concern is the loop that could be used to hang the whoozit up is connected with velcro; the whoozit is pretty heavy so if the baby kicks it, it may fall on the baby.
My daughter isn't able to reach out for toys yet, so we do not know how easy/difficult it is for her to handle the toy.
