Customer Review: High marks for simplicity, durability, and interchangability

My son (3.5yrs old) simply loves these vehicles. They are sturdy enough to have stood up to his abuse for over two months of nearly daily play (quite a feat for any toy to survive and keep his interest that long). By keeping the design of these cars simple and allowing the (somewhat limited number of) parts to interchange, his imagination for different vehicle assembly keeps him playing with these for long periods of time. It is in my opinion a plus that the number of parts is limited because too many parts could have made reassembly difficult for a youngster, this has not an issue for my son - he in fact has come up with some interesting combinations. At times I wished the tires didn't remove so easily from the wheels (mostly because they could go missing) but I really have no complaints about the product. Since the tires and wheels are small and do come off fairly easily I would not give these to a child that puts things in their mouth, our son has never put things in his mouth (other than lots of food) so we haven't worried about this - but it could easily be an issue. So far we haven't had to use any of the additional wheels supplied with the set but it is a nice bonus that they come with it. Overall I give this set high marks for simplicity, durability, and interchangability... he will receive more for his next birthday.Customer Review: TOP QUALITY AND OH SO FUN!!!

My three year old son and I had been "window shopping" these products online for a few months before his birthday. We gave him several full size and several minis so he could change the parts around. And oh has he!
These cars are solid blocks of wood. The plastic seems durable as nothing has been scratched yet. We have rolled them into the island a few times but have decided not to "crash" them as they are just too nice. They are heirloom quality. No one will be handing these down so go buy your own!!!
My husband and I joked about a commercial where the parents put the children to bed as fast as possible, scrambling around so they can get back to playing with the automoblox. We were cleaning up really!
If you aren't satisfied with these products, nothing will make you happy.
I could go on and on but I think you should just by a few and find out for yourself. One is definately not enough!

But the AUTOMOBLOX people are top-notch in customer service and will reply to you directly if you contact them via their website. (I only wrote to thank them for such amazing vehicles and to inquire as to when the white one and more minis would be available.)

It's hard to find anything not to like about these toys. Unlike some of the other posters, we have not had any issues with the quality of these cars - the wheels and canopies snap on as intended, and stay put until the child takes them off. We have lost a few of the wheels, but that is an issue with our housekeeping skills, not with the toy. Luckily, with the extra set of plain black wheels, we're still able to mix and match colors to make three different cars. My boys are not really into playing with cars, but they love building, and these are right up their alley.
There is only one change I'd like to suggest for the designers - because of the shape and size of some of the parts, you are kind of limited in how you put them together. We'd love to be able to put the front and the back section of a car together (with no middle section) to make a little wheeled robot car, but the wheels will not fit this way. It'd also be fun to be able to turn either the front section or the back section of the car upside down, to get a slightly different profile, but because the axels are not centered vertically, doing this does not make for a workable car. I think moving the axels a little would solve both of these problems and make for an even more fun toy.

My son already has a bunch of normal-sized Automoblox cars. He plays with them every day even though he is only 20-months old and they are recommended for 3+ year olds. I find Automoblox to be high quality toys.
I purchased four MINI Automoblox cars (red coupe, blue sedan, green pickup, and green SUV) so we can take them for trips for my boy to play. My son loves MINIs too. If he plays with MINIs inside the car, it is challenging to find small wheels after he takes them off and drops them on the floor.
There are two major differences (besides the size) in MINIs compared to the full-size Automoblox that I want to mention:
1. MINIs do not come with driver and passengers
2. All four MINIs use the same type of connectors for the wooden pieces (full-size Automoblox have vehicle specific connectors that can be interchanged and add another level to the puzzle)
It seems that the quality of the MINIs is just slightly below the quality of full-sized Automoblox cars. There are some artifacts from the manufacturing process on wooden bodies of the MINIs. Nevertheless, Automoblox are great fun toys.

All I can say is this: the quality of the Automoblox cars is superseded only by the company's customer service. Both are heirloom quality!
Other reviewers have pretty much covered all the best aspects of these toys. All I'd like to add to this is that the Automoblox company itself is head and shoulders above other toy companies. Amazon messed up and sent us someone else's customer return. As a result, a wheel was missing from one of the cars. Rather than hassling with asking Amazon for an exchange, I decided to just e-mail Automoblox for a replacement. They replied within 5 minutes saying not only they'd send me the missing part but they would have their web designer unregister the original owner of the cars--since each car has its own VIN--and reregister them to me. Wow! Automoblox is a great company and their products are fabulous. I high recommend them!
