Toys and Games Reviews of Lucky Ducks

Customer Review: Good for learning, bad for my sanity
Summary: 4 Stars

We bought this for our daughter when she was 2 and she didn't get it at all. She'll be three in 3 in 2 months and now she loves it. It's helped her learn her colors and that she has to take turns. We keep switching the colored cards around, too, so she can learn the different colors.

There's only one problem with this game: THERE'S NO OFF/ON SWITCH!!! The other reviews were correct about the noise. It just keeps quacking and the only way to stop it when you put it away is to unscrew the screw on the battery holder and take the batteries out, which is incredibly inconvenient. The button that makes the game "Quack" is actually pretty large and is high in the box so I end up with the same problem that some of these reviewers had: If a put anything on top of that box, whether it's another toy or something light like a baby blanket, it's starts to quack.

What's a little scary is that my husband and I actually became immune to this noise after a while and sat through an entire dinner not even realizing, until the end, that the annoying "Quacking" was going off the entire time. This, obviously puts wear and tear on the battery.

So.... educational? Yes, I think it is. Fun for kids? Absolutely. Annoying? You can't even imagine!

Customer Review: Be afraid. Be very, very afraid!
Summary: 1 Stars

We bought this game for our daughter, who was then 2 and loved ducks. Little did we know that all the cute little duckies do is QUACK INCESSENTLY at a volume that is totally out of control!!! I hate this game!!! Not only is it loud, obnoxious and repetitive, it is also possessed. The button in the middle that turns the game off and on has a hair trigger, and at any point night or day if anything so much as brushes against the box, the quacking starts again! Arrrggghh! A person only has to be ripped from bed at three a.m. to the sound of insane quacking before the batteries in the game mysteriously dissapear. Oh, and on top of all that, the "educational value" of the game...color matching...was so basic that it only held my toddler's attention for one game, after which the only value to the toy was that it made a lot of noise and drove all the adults in the house crazy.

The only positive was that it's well made. These are quality plastic ducks, and you can jump on, toss, stand on, and beat the noisy plastic base and it will still work. Trust me, I tried!

Customer Review: Loudest, Most Annoying Toy I've Ever Heard
Summary: 1 Stars

Don't let the cute duckies deceive you!!! Although this game is kind of fun, I highly recommend staying away from it until they come up with a volume control. It is the loudest toy I've ever heard, and believe me, I've heard a lot of them. You can clearly hear the game in our home if you are in the basement with the door closed and the game is on the second floor of our two-story home. Even with tape over the speakers on the bottom. And it plays the same "Quack Quack" sound over and over. There is no variation or music. It gives everyone a headache, including my 4 year old son, whom it was bought for. And if you take the batteries out to get rid of the sound, then the game doesn't work. If you are thinking of purchasing this product, run, don't walk, in the opposite direction!

If Hasbro fixed the quacking/volume problem, it would be a fun game.

Customer Review: Lucky Ducks is fun...but LOUD.
Summary: 4 Stars

My nephew received this game on Christmas about 7 years ago, I remember he liked it and we all enjoyed playing it with him, so I purchased it for my 3 yr old and she loves it. Not only that, my now 10 year old nephew and his 6 yr old sister love playing with it too. It is a really great children's game, it incorporates aspects of carnival games and learning. But it REALLY needs two things...an on/off switch (other than the "push" button in the center) and VOLUME CONTROL. This game is very, very loud and as others have written, it can start easily if anything leans on the box when put away. Other than this, I would recommend this game. My daughter enjoys playing it with others OR by herself, just for fun. My advice, get the game, alternate it with "quieter" games and if your kids really like it...stock up on the Excedrin! :)

Customer Review: A fun first game that is easy for little ones to understand
Summary: 4 Stars

I recently bought this game for my son, who is nearly 3 and just getting interested in games. Until I read all the other reviews, I had hardly thought about how loud it is--my house is always loud as it is, between 2 small children and my husband's stereo! Most other games we have seen are still a little beyond my son's understanding, so I was happy to find one with very few, very straightforward rules. Even those rules are slightly beyond him--he sometimes tries to go out of turn, sometimes hands the ducks he picks to the person who has that color, & always wants to keep playing until we all get our ducks, even if he's already won. But he has a lot of fun and is learning the concepts of taking turns and playing games. I would recommend it unless you just don't like noisy games...but we do always play it on a carpet or rug!
