Toys and Games Reviews of Fluxx 4.0Customer Review: Unpredictable fun Summary: 4 Stars
Fluxx (and all of its other quirky theme decks) is a nice change of pace from intense strategy games as the constant game changes are so unpredictable that it prevents meta-gaming stress and leads to pure lighthearted fun. Even the most strategic minded players eventually give in to the face-paced fun and just go with the flow.
For this reason Fluxx is a great break game after playing deep-thought trivia or intense strategy games. It also makes a great all around game for anybody who wants to just relax and have lots of fun with any size group without having to work at it.
Furthermore, you can buy one of the many theme decks of Fluxx (such as Zombie Apocalypse or Monty Python) to tailor the game to your personality and change things up.
Bottom line: Fluxx is a must have for any game collection.
Customer Review: randomly entertaining Summary: 4 Stars
the best thing to keep in mind with fluxx, is that anyone can win at anytime. while that really isn't the case, it is just about true. the rules are constantly changing due to "new rule" cards set down by the players. the goal of the game also is in a state of change as they too change as new "Goal Cards" are laid down. action cards don't change the rules themselves, but instead make the player take an action that can add or remove the new rules cards, strategy is a part of the game if you play to win, but mostly this game is fun because you or another player can win on a whim. fast play time depending on the rules in play, and easy enough to learn in one game.
also, the idea of combining the different versions of Fluxx together to create even more randomness and fun is rather exciting for me.
Customer Review: Crazy, always changing fun Summary: 5 Stars
I picked this up to go along with my copy of Zombie Fluxx, as I wanted to be able to play 'classic' fluxx without having to pull cards from the Zombie flavor.
I busted it out one night with my mother, brother and sister, and we had a blast. They were initially wary of it, as the last gameI had introduced them to was We Didn't Playtest This At All. I promised this would be slightly less crazy, and I think overall it was received much better.
If you are looking for a pretty wild, fast paced game with ever changing rules, this is the game for you.
Customer Review: A game with one rule Summary: 4 Stars
I suppose there are technically two rules:
1. Follow the rules presented on the 2 starting cards
2. Unless you overwrite the rules during gameplay
I wouldn't be honest to say it sounded like a dud of a game to me, but on the encouragement of a friend, we got it, played it, and it's not too bad. It's definitely not my favorite, but I could see falling back onto it if there are people who don't want to learn a game with complex rules. It does take a bit to get used to though, so it's not SUPER easy, but it's pretty easy.
The actual product is on par from what you'd expect from a card game. Think Phase 10, or Uno, although the box is a little nicer.
Customer Review: Very fun game Summary: 5 Stars
This is an amazing game. The basic premise is described in numerous other reviews, but I'd like to add how great a family game this is. I play it with my parents and sisters whenever I'm home, and we always end up playing far more games than we initially planned. Every game is different; we've had games that lasted less than five minutes (due to someone getting extremely lucky and having a goal card and the appropriate keepers) and some that have made us go through the whole deck twice. I can't say enough about it. It's tough to explain, and the learning curve is steep for the first few games, but once you get into it, you'll be hooked.
