Customer Review: A hit with children, but a simpler version would've sufficed.

We recently purchased this table, although I must confess it was not the one I wanted. This one was more expensive...
My husband assembled it while my daughter waited, eager to start playing. The assembly was no problem at all. In went the 50 lb bag of sand he bought, and in went the water. Some water leaked out, but I think there might have been a bit of sand in the plug which prevented a good seal.
My daughter and nephew love it, and both enjoy throwing the sand into the water side (I wash it down the drain when they're done). Neither of them play with the bridge, boats, water tower, or gadgets to make the water swirl around (all came with the table). In fact, these toys seem to be a waste. The kids actually seem to enjoy shoveling the sand and sifting it more than anything. We did have to purchase additional sand toys because this did NOT come with a bucket (only a small shovel and sifter).
As for the lids, they strap on easily, but they also move around. So far we haven't had any issues with bugs crawling in, but I wish the lids secured a bit tighter.
The legs don't stay straight, but the table doesn't wobble much because of the weight of the sand and water. Ours was missing the umbrella, so we're waiting for that to arrive.
All in all it is a good toy so far; however, I think a simpler one would've worked as nicely. Since the kids don't care for the water side that much (just for splashing), we'd have been better off with more sand toys than water toys.
