Toys and Games Reviews of Little Tikes Push & Ride RacerCustomer Review: Good Toy for Walkers Summary: 4 Stars
We purchased this item about 4 months ago when our son had just turned 1. He has really enjoyed it. In retrospect, I should have ordered it earlier--when he began to walk (an early 9 months old) as it could really have been safely and enjoyably used from that time.
The item does not have a steering column, and we have observed that our son seems ready to move on to a vehicle he can steer. Don't get me wrong, he certainly compensates by scooting and sliding around corners without any real struggle--but we think he is ready to graduate and have ordered one of the small Radio Flyer trikes that have 'real steering'.
The quality of the vehicle is standard heavy Little Tikes plastic. Unfortunately, on our unit the plastic on the body of the vehicle cracked at the back axle (the axle is metal) which now makes for a wobbly ride, but we chalk that up more to our kid's rough sense of play and delight in tipping and crashing the unit than a universal lack of quality. Therefore, we are generally pleased with this product and would recommend this gift for any walkers-early or late.
Customer Review: My Little Tyke Loves It & So Do We!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My husband & I were @ Babies R Us a month ago, ONLY to buy new bottles for my 12mos. old, when low & behold, I strayed away into the toy section ( very common thing ). I then realized that my little cruiser was in dyer need of a new toy! But in more need of a little help with building some confidence in keeping his balance and having some security to hold onto, while on his cute chubby feet. My little SCOOTER needed a new toy he could push around & bump into furniture with, and after looking at all the other competitor's and my husband's frustration on making my mind up, I decided to buy this one. The price was right within our budget for the day & it darn well served it's purpose, not to mention we nick named it The Weenie Car. Grandma was delighted as much as our Curious Cruiser to watch him stroll thru her living room like a mini bumper car. My husband never forgets to bring it back home with him when he picks up the baby from grandma's after work. I gave it 5 stars because of quality, endurance (good 4 big boys), reputable maker, and the price was super nice!!! A MUST BUY!!!
Customer Review: Great Toy at a GREAT Price... Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this for my son when he was about 10 months old in the hopes that it would help him to start walking sooner. No such luck, but now, at 15 months, he's getting tons of use out of this. Now that he's old enough to get himself on and off it whenever he wants, he rolls all over the house.
Putting this toy together was a slight pain-in-the-butt, but fairly easy. Some of the wheel holes didn't line up for me, so I had to force some parts into place. Overall, it took about 30 min.
I absolutely recommend this toy as a play car for toddlers, but would not advise you to use it to help your child start walking. When my son would hold the back to stand and try to walk with it, I HAD to be there to hold the car in place, otherwise the car could shoot forward, and he could have fallen flat on his face. He was not allowed to be alone with this toy until I felt he was old enough use it himself...about 13 months. Overall though, this was a very good purchase. An excellent price for a simple little car that's also VERY durable.
Customer Review: defective and should be recalled Summary: 1 Stars
This arrived missing three parts, with a hole in the body of the toy. It looks like the holes for the wheels, but is no where near where a hole should be. It is very difficult to assemble and the small caps for the wheels and handle bars could fall of very easily. i think this is a safety hazard and this product should be recalled. Even if my son loves this (I haven't let him play with it because I don't have the parts to put it together properly), I couldn't give it a positive review. I can't believe the sloppiness of little tikes. They obviously have no quality control at their factory.
So as an update, it took two weeks, but i finally got a package from little tikes with the missing parts, but they sent the handle parts for the doll walker rather then the racer, so they didn't match (they are different colors). I email the company, and they told me they were sending me the correct parts. Another two weeks, I got the package, but they had again sent me the wrong color.
This company is incompetent.
Customer Review: My Son's Favorite... Summary: 5 Stars
We purchased this little car for my son about three months ago, when he was about 10 months old and just starting to push things around that weren't meant to be pushed (like his highchair!). He took to this toy right away, and it is absolutely his favorite toy now. He can walk on his own, but still likes to push his car around the house or out on our driveway. I think he's just more confident with it than walking on his own. He loves to take his toys with him, or a sippy cup in the back, which is too cute. He doesn't ride it, yet, but has started to try to climb onto it, so we'll be there soon. We just love it, and would absolutely recommend it. I know it's "plain," as another reviewer said, but that's the beauty of it. There's nothing to break or lose his interest. We even packed it onto the train when we went from Seattle to California for a week, just so he could push it around when we got there. We had a few funny looks from the ticket agents, but the look on his face when he saw it come down the baggage shoot was worth it.
