Toys and Games Reviews of Little Tikes Mulching MowerCustomer Review: I'm impressed Summary: 5 Stars
I made the mistake of walking by this mower display in Toys R Us with my 15 month old son. The bright colors caught his attention (ours is the red, black, and yellow version) and when I didn't let him stop to play he threw a fit. Thinking that I'd let him play with it for a few minutes and then be on my way, I went back to the aisle, lifted him out of the buggy, and let him "mow" a few aisles. When I thought it was time to stop, I put him back into the buggy and put the mower back on the display, and he had a cataclysmic breakdown. I had never seen him so attached so quickly to a toy. Needless to say, I put the mower in the buggy with him, and it went home with us. He has played with it every day since, and it is by far his favorite toy. He keeps our hall, living room, dining room and kitchen mowed to perfection. And I don't mind this toy because the popping sound is not so loud and annoying that I want to take it away after a while. Anything that makes him so happy makes me happy.
Customer Review: Very Durable Mower ! Summary: 5 Stars
dd received around age 1. Since she was just learning to walk, she did not get much use until a few months later, however now, she uses often (even at 2+ yrs old).
PROS
- Very durable
- "key" turns and "lever" goes up and down for more "just like dad's mower" fun
- Makes noises like a lawnmower - this is somewhat loud indoors, however when used outdoors it's the perfect loudness
- Great height for older toddlers.
- No detactable parts - that means nothing to lose !
CONS
- It's not intended to assist your child in learning how to walk... it's too light-weight and if child puts any kind of weight on the handles, they'll fall down.(this really isn't a con if you know this before buying)
ALL IN ALL A GREAT TOY. WE ALSO HAVE THE FISHER PRICE BUBBLE MOWER, WHICH HAS IT'S OWN ADVANTAGES, HOWEVER THIS IS INTENDED TO BE A NOISEMAKER AND FOR THAT PURPOSE IT'S GREAT . WE PAID $9.99 BRAND NEW - A GREAT PRICE !
Customer Review: Gets no use! Summary: 1 Stars
I am dissapointed and very surprised to say that this toy has not captured my boys interest at all. I've had it for a year, and the boys are now 2 1/2 and 3 1/2. I thought it would be a huge hit, but it has just sat gathering dust. It is very sturdy and has great eye appeal like all Little Tikes toys. My personal complaint is that I think it is VERY noisy-perhaps this is what makes it so unappealing to my children. My kids have loved push toys of all kinds (even a doll stroller!), but this mower has been a total flop in our household.(I had first tried the FP Bubble Mower-way to messy and very poor bubble output/ quickly returned.) At least I'll get a decent price for it's like new condition at a yard sale or as a donation. I'd suggest giving the mower a good trial run in the store and make your own opinion of the noise it makes before purchasing it. Recently while shopping at [a local store] my child was inseparable with a [less expensive] plastic mower-go figure!!
Customer Review: Fantastic! Summary: 5 Stars
Our family was lucky enough to win one of these in a competition. The kids (4 yo, 2yo girls and 10 month old boy) were so excited - the elder ones have been asking for a mower so they can help Dad with the lawns. As is usual for Little Tikes it is of high quality and extremely durable. The design is simple but loads of fun - when you push it the wheels turning make the beads "pop" around - just like lawn clippings. Another feature my kids love is the petrol cap so they can use their bowser to "refuel". This has been pushed on grass, cement, pavers, tiles (indoor and out), carpet and floorboards and works a treat. My 10 month old has even worked out how to hold onto it when he's in his walker and pushes it around as he walks in his walking (very funny!). When he's not in is walker he likes to turn it upside down and play with wheels. We've only had it a few weeks and it's already a favourite. Highly recommended.
Customer Review: Beware - tips way too easily!!!! Summary: 2 Stars
My mother in law bought this for my 14 month old son based on the positive reviews. My son is a strong walker but as with any pushing toy it should be able to withstand some counter pressure. This mower is so back heavy that it falls very easily and in one instance caught my sons fingers underneath as he fell with it. This has been the only toy whether pusher or other that has actually hurt him, leaving both his Grandmother and I very wary of why it was rated so well. It tips at the slightest pressure and if I put one finger on the handle it falls backwards. My son has great balance and isn't being rough but simply trying to use it. In my book playing with any toy that ends in tears is not only a bad toy but has serious design flaws.
The only reason I rated it a 2 is because he loves the idea and the fun popping sound. So... fun concept but definite need for improvement.
