Customer Review: Fun until it gets a hole (repair kit sucks).

I have three little kids, twin boys age 3 and a little girl age 4. My mom purchased this for the kiddos about a year ago for my twins birthday. This has provided tons of fun for the kids, and even though Little Tikes isn't for the idea, during the winter we bring it indoors to the kids' playroom, just mind the exits and what your kids might land on if they fall out of them. We mostly just left this outside, deflated, and this has been left outside one night when we unexpectly got several inches of snow, it has endured freezing rain, and another time the blower been drowned with gushing water and sat in 4 inches of water when our above ground pool's liner collasped and to my surprise - the blower still works like the day it was pulled out of the box. We just let it sit for a few days before using to let it dry out. Works perfectly. That is a durable and powerful blower! My ONLY complaint, the "repair kit". Nearly a year's worth of abuse later, on the slide part near a seam it got a tear/hole. Simple looking vertical rip. An easy fix?! So I dig out the still sealed repair kit it came with, and first off we have 4 primary color patches that are each about 8 inches long and 6 inches wide, not nearly enough for long term maintance. And a VERY tiny tube of glue. This isn't going to work. I am serious, this tube of glue isn't as long as HALF of my pinky and not even that round. There are NO repair instructions, so you do not know which side to glue, do you try to fix inside the hole (tricky but plausable and seems to offer the best long term fix), or outside (messy and promises that this age group will be fasinated with it and want to pick at it). I tried to google and search Little Tikes for instructions but came up empty handed. The tear is too long for one patch, yet it is difficult to figure out how to make this glue work when you have SO LITTLE to work with. I ended up leaving the jumper inflated while I worked (this way I don't have to worry about having any wrinkles that cause my handywork to come undone when it is inflated later). I stuck one whole patch inside the rip and dotted (I am serious here) two tiny pencil tip dots of glue on either side just to hold this in place, the air pressure is forcing the patch to lie flush against the tear, but this isn't long enough to cover the whole rip so at the top I lay a matching red patch that overlaps the inside patch about 3 inches. And I dab what small amount of dots of glue I can manage from such a TINY tube around and hold with my hand until the glue adhears. It looks horrible, will preform horrible. Its still winter here so I am trying to find the pool repair kit we have to see if I can use that vinyl pool repair adhesive to do a better job but who knows how this will last with more deflating and inflatings. I will say the blower is powerful enough that even with a rip this long it still stays inflated. Seems to have individual pockets to help with that. Overall it is a neat and durable toy, but it's pretty much useless if it gets a hole or a tear unless you feel like forking up the $$$ for a professional to repair it.
