Customer Review: MOM OF 3 YEAR OLD SON WHO ADORES THIS KITCHEN!

My son wanted a kitchen for Christmas. I was looking into the Tikes Interactive Kitchen but it was very hard to find and the price escalated into ridiculous figures. Not to mention it is being discontinued. I looked at the Step 2 dream kitchen, it is cute, but looks too 'stiff'. I wanted something a little more open and roomy. Since I have a son, I did not want anything girly or pink! That's why I love the neutral colors of this kitchen, plus the grill on the other side! I was a little concerned over the reviews, but I decided to go ahead and purchase this gorgeous kitchen. It was the very last one at Toys R Us and went on sale. I did not want to disappoint my son! My husband put it together in relatively short time and wasn't very hard according to him. He did not have to drill any holes. A couple of doors including the microwave do not fit quite right, but I think we can get the microwave door to fit if we press on it hard enough to pop it into the slot. It doesn't bother my son at all. We bought the Just Like Home 120 piece food set and the Just Like Home pots and pans set (the black set with the teapot), from Toys R Us, and all the cookware fits perfectly on the stove and into the microwave. There is quite a bit of space, but you always need more! We keep everything stored on and in the kitchen and put some of the fruits and vegetables in his Little Tikes shopping basket. He loves going grocery shopping and loading up his kitchen! My only wish is that there were a few more sounds, but my son has been very creative to make his own! Maybe that's a good thing! I might go to some stores and see if I can buy a small wicker basket or two to fit in those open spaces. You can also store a salt/pepper shaker and a couple of things on the windowsill. The magnetic refrigerator door is terrific! I put a picture of my son there and he loves it. I was thinking about buying one of those round battery run lights that looks like little domes and put one underneath the microwave to give it a nightlight. They just get pressed and then turn on. I have to check it out. I have to say that I recommend this kitchen and am very pleased with it. I've looked very hard into all the kitchens and there is no absolutely perfect one. The most important thing is that the child is happy to play with it. The unit is very sturdy, it has to be if my son is going to play with it. The bbq grill makes sounds (although the sound is quite funky). The light up flames are great and the grill has a very realistic look to it. The awning completes the look very nicely and the picnic table and bench are a nice touch. My son has eaten his lunch there a couple of times. We play like the kitchen is the inside of the house and the grill side is outside the house. He'll make believe like he's taking the garbage out like daddy, and pretend to put on a hat and coat. Then he'll say it's cold out on that side and shake and shiver. He loves to make pretend meals on the kitchen side. The burner makes several sounds like a teapot whistling, boiling water and a couple of others. The sink's faucet does not pull out, I don't know why they say that it does. The oven and dishwasher are pretty roomy. The kitchen counter top is a nice shade of blue. There are also a couple of roomy cabinets to store lots of stuff. All in all, I recommend this kitchen. Have fun with your kids!!
Pros: Looks great, lots of imaginary play capability, grill
great for summer play as well, lots of space, big refigerator with magnets.
Cons: Would like a couple more interactive sounds, no pull out faucet as stated.
