This slide is durable and perfect for short, unsteady legs. I bought this slide for my son when he was 13 months old; at first I helped him climb onto it and helped him slide down. He's almost 20 months now and he's a pro. He's taken a couple tumbles off, but for the most part, the high sides of the platform of the castle give him something to hold onto and keep him from falling off the sides. It is perfect for young toddlers. It is a little shaky but the shakiness isn't a problem and I don't think it indicates it is not sturdy. I love this toy for my son, he got it for his first birthday. The age range is for 1-4. My son just turned one but it will be a while before he will really get a lot of play out of it. He doesn't have the skills to climb and slide without falling down yet though he's been walking since 10 months. He goes down the slide fast enough that he'll fall back and bump his head going down. He loves the steering wheel when we hold him while playing with it. It's a great toy, just be aware that your child may not be able to play on it as early as the box says. First of all, it took my husband less than 10 minuted to put together!! So easy! My son loves this toy. He has no problem climbing the "rocks" and loves to stand at the top. The slide is perfect length for him and even for my 4 year old nephew. I didn't give it 5 stars across the board because my son can rock it by holding one of the sides and pulling back and forth. It however, doesn't rock the actual slide, just the side he's holding on to. He absolutely loves it! I'd recommend it to anyone! It's a not too expensive out door play area [...]! We bought this for my daughter who was about 15mths old at the time because we wanted something to keep her occupied and give her some exercise during the winter months. I thought it would be our saving grace, but it wasn't, not to fought the toy, because it's great, it's just my daughter is very, very active, and this toy doesn't occupy her for too long. Her friend on the other hand who is 3mths younger won't stop playing on it. And they do enjoy playing on it together! It helps to have a buddy to play with. First off you must know that this is a perfect big ticket item for a small playroom/living room like ours. My little guy is 13 months and not quite able to climb the rock wall yet but loves to hang out underneath the castle like a fort. Plenty of room to play. He's in the 90th percentile for height and the slide is plenty huge... lots of room to grow. A great little investment. One bad thing is on carpet it's light as a feather and gets slid around very easily. Worth the money... especially if tight on space. I think it's ideal for indoor use.
