The slide has two steps which are placed with one directly under the other, not graduated in a diagonal like most slides. The child only sees the top step when standing at the back of the slide. The bottom step is not visible being directly under the top eye-level step. So the child repeatedly tries to lift their leg onto the upper step, which is too high. Not only that, but even if they did see the bottom step, it would be very difficult to negotiate the move to the top step because they would have have something to hang onto to move in a directly vertical line, which they don't have with this slide. Try climbing a rope ladder without using your hands and you'll know what I'm talking about. Then the pitch or incline of this slide is ridiculous. It is so steep that the child would slam right into the floor every time if an adult were not holding them, which is exactly what has to happen in order to use this slide. An adult must place the child on the top of the slide and guide them all the way down. Not only that but there is very little area on the top of the slide in which to sit, and this small area is not clearly demarcated. A child who could negotiate the steps, and there probably aren't many, could easily fall off of the top, or fall down the slide. I would never purchase this slide again, and can not understand how Little Tikes would sell such a horribly engineered product. Didn't they even test this slide with little children? I simply can not believe that they did. Just one more note of caution with this and maybe all slides. If the child is bare foot and puts his foot down, it will stick to the slide and stop him so abruptly that he will be pitched right off of the slide into the air. This actually happened, but luckily the slide requires me to continually hold onto the child throughout the process, so there was no injury. Otherwise, I'm sure a child could be very hurt in this manner, and I'm quite sure many children have been hurt on this slide. As it is, only the adults back is hurt with this product, if it is used as designed.
