Toys and Games Reviews of Pretend and Play Work Belt Tool Set

Customer Review: Great tools! I am buying another one as a gift.
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter has loved this since I got it for her when she was about 16 months old. The set stores in its own carrying case, which keeps it all together. The drill is so realistic it even has interchangeable "bits" (the two screwdrivers come out of their handles and fit into the drill if you take the drill bit out) so you can power screw and unscrew. It has a reverse setting, just like a real drill. You can pretend to drill through the plastic "board" with a neat mechanism that turns a gear inside the board to open a little door to let the drill pop through. My daughter also loves to pound "nails" into the plastic "board" and take them out again with the claw end of the hammer, and she is getting the hang of screwing and bolting, although she mostly makes me do the hard part right now at 21 months. She likes to run the saw into the groove in the "board" to pretend to cut, and it makes a nice "ricky-ricky" sound. She adores the tape measure, since it is just like Mommy's! She counts up how many inches long things are. The pieces in this kit fit together and actually work properly, as I would expect them to. My daughter doesn't wear the toolbelt at all, though, as it is sized for an older child and just falls off her. Sometimes she still tries to put it on and put all the tools in, but they don't stay very well. We just keep the belt in the case and play with the tools on their own. I highly recommend it, and I am buying another one for the boy across the street.

Customer Review: We love this set
Summary: 5 Stars

This is acutally the 2nd set of these I have purchased. A friend who has played with ours mentioned her daughter would love to have one for her birthday, so we were happy to help. She loves it just as much as my son loves his.

We got this set as a birthday present for my three year old. We specifically asked for this set because it came with a case, didn't have too many small parts, and was very realistic. We were not disappointed.

My only complaint in the entire set, is the tool belt. It is too big for him and does not stay up well. But other than that, he loves playing with it. My favorite part is the case, makes it easy to clean up and store. My son loves every tool in there. But his favorite has to be the tape measure. He uses it all the time. The other day, Daddy metioned we needed to fix the chair. My son went and got his tool case and started to "drill" the chair!

The tools are all sturdy. The "board" with the nails, screws and saw marks is really neat too. There are some small parts to be careful of. I would definetly recomend this set over anything else I have seen out there.

Customer Review: Fun little set
Summary: 3 Stars

I bought this for my nephew for Christmas. He just turned 3, and out of all the toys at the family dinner, this was the one he was playing with the most. It's fun and easy to get at, and besides getting the batteries in the drill, no assembly required.

The tools themselves are what you expect. The case really isn't all too fancy and I can see them all just being tossed in there at some point without any distinct place, because the holders for each of the tools is pretty flimsy.

Overall I really like it, but the reason why I got it was that it was a "tool belt" and that was the one thing I was not very happy with. The belt itself is plastic, and does not stay clipped together well for a 3 year old on the move. It's a cheap plastic belt basically, and that's why I wouldn't really recommend this for other folks.

If you just want a fun little tool set with a box to put em in, go for it. If you're looking for a nice little toolbelt, look elsewhere.

Customer Review: Great fun for little hands
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for my daughter's three year old birthday about six months ago, and she still pulls it out and plays with it.

The plastic board has a really cool design where, when used with the drill, it appears to be drilling holes in it. Really fun!

The drill looks just like a little (much safer) version of my Makita, and gets the most use by far. She also likes the screwdriver and hammer (doesn't every little kid like to hit things with a hammer?). Less so the wrench and nuts, probably because that requires more hand eye coordination, and is harder than using the drill.

One annoying thing is that the drill bit comes off pretty easily. It is easy to stick back in, but when you do that more than once it gets old fast.

Still, lots of fun to play with. Mine is has been going strong for six months and nothing has broken, too, so it seems to be pretty durable.

I'd buy it again with no hesitation.

Customer Review: Extremely disappointed
Summary: 1 Stars

I will admit that all in all, my 4 year old really enjoys using this toy. However, that said, it is important to note it's (rather large) shortcomings.

The tool belt will NOT stay on. My little guy is not overweight, but the tool belt has fallen off so frequently that he won't even wear it anymore. This is the whole reason this set was bought, as he LOVES tool belts.

The drill was broken almost as soon as we got it out of the (very nice hard plastic) case. The bit won't spin, but the motor makes a sound as if it should be spinning. It's like something is broken on the inside.

My little guy has more amusement in carrying around the plastic case this all arrived in - and not the tool case, but the weak plastic pieces it's held together in that you would normally throw away - than wearing the tool belt. Pass this one up and get some wooden tools, they hold up much better. I thought this was a deal, unfortunately I was wrong.
