The same thing happened to me. When I placed my order in the beginning of November, this set was NOT suppose to be the expansion set. It was the starter set. Then there were problems with the manufacturer. I received it a short time ago and just now realized I received the expansion set. These trains, and movies are our kids favorites. They have played with them for the past 3 years, and still play with them every day. Thomas the tank engine track is a must for train lovers. The track is made of sturdy wood. The joints in each piece of track are strong and won't leave you looking for another train set. My son has even taken this in the bathtub and its still just as strong. Its a quiet toy that brings out big imaginations.Customer Review: Also Deceived by Picture in Advertisement

I was also given the impression that this was a train track set, not an expansion set. I ordered this in November as a Christams gift, and just realized last night as I was wrapping that it was only an EXPANSION SET. I was very angry, and had to scramble to do a rush order. This is a great expansion set. If that is what you want than this is a great value for you. If you think you are getting a full train set, then you do not know how to read. This stuff is at a cheaper price and just as high quality compared to Thomas. Don't blow your money on Thomas track.
