Customer Review: Ridiculous Product -Absolutely Poor Quality

I cannot possibly write how frustrated we as the parents and our son is with this horrible toy. We purchased the figure eight Thomas the Tank engine set initially and bought individual cars for it over time. Our son loves the "choo choo's". We were quite happy with the wooden Thomas the Tank product line (although ridiculously expensive) and so is our boy.
The genuine ridiculousness lies within their battery powered "die cast" products including Percy. I can't fathom a toy that is allowed to be sold with such horrific quality. The first time we bought the Percy engine we got it home, went to change the battery and when opening all the plastic inside just fell all over the place and was cracked. We took it back. The 2nd time, the little plastic black piece inside that holds the button down to allow the engine continue to run broke so it provides no actual forward power. We took it back. Third time trying after exchange, the woman in the store tested it out for us at right there before we took it home (we could tell they were as annoyed with it as us) and it worked great. Thank god we finally got one that worked we were thinking. Soon as we got this one home, very first time pushing down the button to start it, the exact same thing as last time. The plastic piece inside is broken and it doesn't run, the wheels turn but it doesn't go. It must have either been a complete fluke that it ran for a sec at the store, or somehow broke in the box on the car ride home.
So, this will be the 4th time we will be heading to the store for this toy. Instead of an exchange, we will be getting a refund. It's embarressing for us and it's not fair to our little guy who tries to play with the toy but just keeps saying with a sad voice, "broked". It's tempting to just let the $30 go but we're so frustrated with it we aren't going to contribute to the continuing production of such a poor quality toy. At this point it's just the principal.
Thanks for letting us vent and we highly recommend you stay away from the battery powered die cast product line.
