Toys and Games Reviews of Bob the Builder - Deluxe Talking Tool Belt SetCustomer Review: great idea, average execution Summary: 3 Stars
Bought this set for my son, who is almost three and loves anything construction-related. We have had this set for almost a month, and have mixed feelings about it. The hard-hat does not stay in place - should have been obvious to me from the picture as it has nothing to hold it in place. this annoyed my son as he has a fireman's plastic hat that has an adjustable insert that enables me to adjust it so that it is held snuggly in place - this has no such thing. the belt is good for the most past - although all the slots seem to be the same size so it was difficult to insert some of the tools and there was also a sizing issue. however, the talking buckle/pront part was such a hit. my son enjoyed having bob the builder talk to him! so overall, i would say that this set has the potential but still a few details were left out.
Customer Review: He loves it! Summary: 4 Stars
I bought my stepson this tool belt set for Halloween because he is obsessed with Bob the Builder. He loves all the tools as well as pressing the button on the belt and responding to Bob asking, "Can we fix it?" He loves "working" next to daddy who is a general contractor. He and I also pretend to build things with the tools (I of course am Wendy). This is the first time I have seen him really role play and its wonderful to see he gets the idea of pretend. The toolbelt is definitely one of his favorite toys and worth every penny. I want to agree with folks that the hat is a bit large. Also, some of the loops for tools are a bit too small to get the tools into very easily. Still my little guy loves this toy so don't let that dissuade you!
Customer Review: Has some quirks Summary: 2 Stars
This product was advertised as being "under 3", but when I received it the packaging said for "3 and up". I had ordered it for my 22 month old. He only received a couple of toys for Christmas (he mostly got clothes), so it kind of sucks that he really can't have this one! I do allow it for "monitored" play, but he really does not have the imagination yet to actually try and use it on anything. Also, you can't tell from the pictures, but the measuring "tape" does not fit into the toolbelt unless you take off both screws first. Then you have to put the screws BACK on to get it to stay on the toolbelt. My 6 year old can't even do that! However, I do like the hat and toolbelt for dress-up play. He does look pretty cute in his little get-up!
Customer Review: I agree with Big Daddy Summary: 5 Stars
My 18 month old has just loved this set. Tool quality is excellent and they have held up well to several months of fix it jobs around the house.
Tool belt is a bit funky; not something that my child has taken too. The hard hat doesn't tend to fit real well because it doesn't have any internal adjustments. These haven't been big problems for us, just something to consider if you think your little one is dying for the belt and the hat.
My only minor complaint is about the hammer. They did such a lovely job with with the soft blue rubber on the tool handles but they should have include a soft rubber nose on the hammer too! Would have made Daddy's life just a bit easier and kept Jr. out of trouble with the hammer.
Customer Review: Very Cute Summary: 5 Stars
Where's the blue hat for the girls to dress up as Wendy? Is it available?
This is a very cute set. The hat is nice and big and the tools are basically real of course just not as strong or dangerous.
My little one is Bob when he puts it on and I can see his imagination at work.
I love the whole "Yes we can" attitude.
He loves to play the short "Bob the builder... can we fix it? Bob the builder... yes we can!" music over and over. That's all it plays of the theme that one line but it seems to be enough for him. He likes me to put the tool belt on him and leave it on like Bob. It's a bit big for him (He's 24 months) but you can figure out how to adjust the velcro straps.
