Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Baby Counting Pal? Plush

Customer Review: Worth the money!
Summary: 5 Stars

This is by far my 6 mo. olds favorite toy. The songs could easily get stuck in your head and possibly send you into a fit of rage, but personally I kind of like them. In fact, when my son wakes up cranky or starts crying I begin to sing him one of the songs, "Hello bluebird, sing along, sing your blue opera song..." and it never fails to cheer him up instantly. Just resently during a four hour car ride my son started to cry with about 40 minutes left in our trip. I would just go through all the catepillars songs and he would get quite and then the minute I stopped he would start whailing again. I also use the musical medleys in the mornings when I am getting ready. The music plays long enough for to bend down periodically and hit the button again and my son just enjoys playing with the catepillar in his hands. We have had this toy for three months now and eventhough he still cannot press the buttons he still enjoys playing with it on his own and with us. For (...)this crazy catepillar has bought me hours of mental health time!!!! Also, we are still using the same batteries ofter using this multiple times a day for the last three months.

Customer Review: One of my daughter's favorites!
Summary: 5 Stars

My daughter received this as a gift for her birthday when she turned 1 year old. I thought it was a little strange at first and I wasn't quite sure if my little girl would like it, but boy did she prove me wrong! She LOVES this toy!!! When she first played with it, it took her a very short amount time to get the hang of it and quickly learned where the buttons are that make the music go... now she even presses the little buttons that change the modes on her own! Other reviewers complain about how small the button area is... my daughter doesn't have a problem with it and neither do I. It teaches your baby to be persistent and keep trying and once they "get it", it's second-nature, like riding a bike. I don't agree with the age range for this toy- I think it is much too advanced for a 3 month old- I would recommend this toy for age ranges beginning at 6 or 9 months, depending on the baby. This toy doesn't just teach numbers and counting, it also has several different modes which include colors and two different music modes. I would recommend this toy to anyone!

Customer Review: Big hit for little hands and growing minds
Summary: 4 Stars

I received this item as a gift today for my 15 month old. We are the proud owners of a Tad, Learning Drum and Discovery Ball. I am always amazed at the technology involved in these super cute and plush toys. After pushing every button she could get her fingers on she leaned over and gave her new "pal" a big hug and kiss. The only drawback I can see is the location of the buttons for changing the mode, my daughter accidently changed the mode several times during the first few minutes of play and was getting a little frustrated. Perhaps, because of the age that this is good for the ability of changing the mode should be left up to the supervising adult and not the child. If the toy is still a hit when the child is older then they will defintely be able to change the mode on their own. Otherwise this is an excellent toy and I will share this experience as I have with the other leap frog products we have been lucky enough to be exposed to. Keep up the good work, we parents look forward to your new creations as much as our children do.

Customer Review: Cute, but with a problem here and there...
Summary: 4 Stars

My son received this toy for his first birthday after I added it to his Amazon wishlist. I had read the reviews saying that the buttons were hard to push, but for some reason looked past this and decided to add it to his list anyway. The straps are not long enough to go around my crib railing so I have had to keep it as a "floor toy" until I can extend the straps. But in doing this, I can definitely see where other reviewer have noted that the buttons are hard to push. Because he is usually putting all his weight onto the toy when playing with it on the floor, the buttons are pretty easy to push. But I definitely see where having it strapped to the side of the crib could cause some issues. You just can't get enough weight on the buttons when it's up off the floor. I think I may have to keep this as a floor toy rather than a crib toy. When my son is playing with it, he dances, claps and sways to the music. It is a really sweet toy and the music it plays is really quite cute.

Customer Review: Munching away the batteries...
Summary: 3 Stars

I registered for this little toy, and was very excited to get it. It's bright and cute and even at 2 months my daughter liked to reach out towards the colors, even if she couldn't do much else. But we've now decided that until she's older, we're not going to keep feeding this thing batteries. We put brand new batteries in, and after only a week (during which we maybe played with it two or three times) the batteries are dead again. This has happened several times. I know you can switch it completely off in between play times, but doesn't this defeat the purpose of letting a child figure out how to make it "speak?" It's still a cute toy, but I'm very disappointed in regards to the way its intended to be used. Plus, they make all these battery operated toys with doors that have to be unscrewed. I'm sure it's safer, but it's not convenient to keep running to find the screwdriver and put new batteries in all of the time. I hope she doesn't decide that this is her favorite toy!
