Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog My First LeapPad OrangeCustomer Review: Great toy, but look around for the best deal Summary: 5 Stars
I love this toy! It's very educational and fun. My 2 1/2 year old son loves it so much that I just bought a second one for my younger son (currently 9 months) to use when he gets older. The toy is pretty durable, but with constant use I fear it won't last to pass on to my youngest. Amazon is a great place to buy the books for it, but I have to say the $69.99 list price here is a joke! I just bought a My First LeapPad (same as here), a First Touch LeapPad, AND 3 books at the manufacturer's website for less than that, including taxes and shipping. So look around. You can also buy the older blue and pink models for cheaper on Amazon, and they are just the same.
Customer Review: Kids love this Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great item, but I bought it for my nephew who might have been a bit young for it (3 years old). My sister was taken back by how engaged he became with the LeapPad and didn't want to play with many other toys. If you get this for a child that is too young, he/she might become frustrated if they can't quite figure out how it works. Be prepared to work through the books with your child or whomever you are giving it to. I was a bit miffed by how the price went up from the Amazon.com distributor of this item. I probably paid $20.00 OVER retail value of this toy. It's great, but I suggest shopping around for competitive price options.
Customer Review: 3yo bored in 5min Summary: 2 Stars
My 3yo, who loves his vtech whiz kid, was bored with this in no time. The dialogue moves very slow and the story lines are very basic. The child must click "go" on each page in order to activate it, very redundant. Once on a page, and they click go, they must choose a game a t the bottom of the page, after what seems like 10seconds, it spits out "find the red square", etc.. very boring. If your child knows his colors and shapes, they will not find this too challenging - aka boring. I think the whiz kid is a much better product. Hopefully he will like some of the other books for this, otherwise its going back.
Customer Review: Another Winner! Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my 4 and 3 year old grandsons. They are having trouble with the sounds of some words. I was hoping that LeapPad would help them both. Well, they are both enjoying it. I have noticed that especially with the 4 year old, it is now easier to understand him when he talks. He likes to set by himself and play with his LeapPad. It is also helping them both with added books I have purchased from LeapFrog. Books that help with learning colors, numbers etc.
LeapFrog is like Sesame Street, you can't grow up without them!
Customer Review: cheap leappad Summary: 3 Stars
This was a great toy to get him(2 year old) excited about reading. However the quality is terrible. Bought it for christmas last year and only worked right for 9 monthes. After trying to fix the leap pad myself I gave up and figured that I would just by a new one(the next model). But at this point, since we won't be able to use the cartridges that we already have, I think I'll try a vtech instead. He's gonna miss it though.
