Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Learn & Groove Musical TableCustomer Review: Fun Cruising Challenge Summary: 5 Stars
My daughter received this as a gift when she was seven months old and it quickly became her favorite toy. She has now been playing with it every day for close to two months. She was standing well but had just started cruising a little when we got the table so she had some difficulty in navigating around it at first. The table has a variable surface and each side needed a different approach if she was going to stand and play with the toys. Even after placing the table on a playmat to keep it from skidding we had to be close by to catch her on the inevitable tumbles and each attempt ot get around a corner was a struggle. Since then, she's made lots of improvement in moving around and maintaining her balance. While most of that is just growing up, the fun factor of the table motivated her to challenge herself. Overall, this is a great toy for little ones but parents should be aware that new standers and cruisers may have a hard time holding on.
Customer Review: not very durable Summary: 1 Stars
I'm not a big fan of plastic toys, however we recieved this as a gift, so what can you do. The look of this thing is rather cheap and unsightly, but I will never deprive our son of fun at the price of decor.. Our 8 month old son is just learning to stand up on things, so we had to hide it unless we were ready to sit with him the whole time to play with it.. but that's just the age he's at.. no fault of the toy. What IS the fault of the maunufacturers is that we only played with this toy for 1 week, and the little green door came off, and is impossible to put back on. The next week, I was moving the toy with one hand with the baby in the other(as so many of us mothers have to do), and it dropped VERY LIGHTLY right side up on the hardwood floor. It no longer works AT ALL. Even if I liked plastic toys, I wouldn't recommend something so expensive that is not made for the hard knocks of kids, let alone a light bump from moving it!!
Customer Review: 9 Month Old's Rating Summary: 3 Stars
I just bought this toy an hour ago, brought it home to my newly 9-month old and he immediately pulled himself to stand on the table and almost tipped over the table! To prevent this, I put the table close to the couch so if he tried to pull himself up again, it would have something to lean up against. Other than that, he played with the table for about 7 minutes and then crawled away to something else. Maybe it will take a few days for him to show more interest. I will give him time and hopefully he'll get more enjoyment out of it. I can't lose because this was on sale for $19.99 on Target today!! Oh! Also, I liked the sounds and music but the music started making a "skipping" sound like it was stuck...anyone else have problems with this? I will put some more brand new batteries inside and see if there are any improvements...So my rating...? I give it a 3 out of 5 for good music but falls short in other ways.
Customer Review: Survived Vomit! Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this a few weeks ago for our 10 mos. old baby girl. She absolutely loved it and had tons of fun from the moment we opened it. Then our baby got sick and vomited all over the table - it was totally saturated and I figured it was destroyed. We were so sad because it had become her all time favorite toy. I had no choice but to take the batteries out and hose it down in the shower. After drying for two days we put the batteries back in and it barely worked and sounded all wacky. Another 24 hrs later it worked a little better, and now it's almost back to perfect! I couldn't believe it - this thing is insanely durable. If it hadn't worked we would have bought her another one because she loved it so much.
Other good things to note: This helped our baby learn to stand. Also, lots of cool buttons and fun (plus educational) things to play with, great music that is not annoying. So worth $40!
Customer Review: Great toy Summary: 5 Stars
I bought this for my daughter for Christmas when she was 7.5 months old and she loves it. She's not pulling herself up to standing yet so for the time being we are using it with 2 legs off and she can play with it while seating on the floor.
We have a wooden floor so I don't know if she'll ever be able to use it to pull herself up as it will be quite slipery (even with an alphabet foam mat under it). But we've played with it while she was standing next to it with my help and she likes it that way too.
She has been exploring all the instruments, she loves the banjo and has been playing with it almost everyday since she got it.
As a parent, I love the jazzy music and I like the fact you can easily grab it and move it around using the 'handles' under the base. It's also very easy to remove the legs and put them back. Overall a great toy, I'm, very pleased with this purchase.
