Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Learn & Groove Musical TableCustomer Review: Great educational toy, that is not very durable Summary: 3 Stars
First let me say that I love all leapfrog products for my little nephew. I am not a parent, but as much as I have paid attention to what I have bought the little guy, I feel I can write this review with conrfidence. I am a musician and teacher and believe that all of the features on the table are perfect for the age that it specifies on the box. A little warning for all parents out there that are wanting the next Mozart.... please realize that your child will do what they want, not what you want. This is simply to increase their coordination, visual and ocular stimuli, nothing more. They laught and gigle and have fun being a child with it. With that being said, we all know that boxes and commercials do not always show all of the spitup and food and dirt and everything else that little boys and girls can get on these toys. This table quit working after a spitup accident and some rough housing from an 11 month old boy. I would still get another one, but just know that it is not very durable.
Customer Review: Help me learn to stand musical table Summary: 4 Stars
This is a great learning toy. I work in the Infants Room and the babies are ages 2 months to 11 months. The babies are all at different abilities and this toy makes it so that the babies that are just starting to stand can lean against it and feel like big kids. The feet unlock in seconds making it a great floor toy as well! The only thing I would fix on this toy is to make the feet not be able to skid on the floor. I have to put it up against something to make it not move as the babies that are just learning to stand and are leaning on it tend to lean and push their weight on it so it slowly, eventually, moves away from them and they fall if they are not closely watched. But they do all love it! And it has the Spanish feature which is SO great here in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They hear words in their own language and it encourages them to learn new words. It is really a great toy and so very durable. They have yet to break anything on it! I love it! So do they! Thank you!
Customer Review: My son's favorite toy for many months Summary: 5 Stars
Even when we first saw the toy and it was without batteries, my son was interested in touching it.
Then when we bought it and realized its musical potential, it became obvious that this was going to be his favorite toy. Unlike most other toys he has, though, this has stayed a favorite for many months. Before he was walking he enjoyed it. He would lean against it and it encouraged him to stand for longer periods of time to play with it.
Today, he turns the switch from English to Spanish, changes the volume, dances to it, and even picks the whole thing up to move to other rooms. Even when we visit friends he beelines for the familiar toy.
It's a must-have. My favorite toy because of its long-life. It doesn't spontaneously go off like other toys, annoyingly saying "bye-bye" after a period of inactivity. It just keeps quiet in its place if you don't touch it.
My son loves it and I love it. I highly recommend it!
Customer Review: Great music, lots of fun Summary: 4 Stars
Basically we parents have only two choices for this type of activity table: this LeapFrog Learn & Groove and the Fisher Price. I read a lot of reviews before deciding on this one, and we've been very happy with it. There are plenty of musical variations that are really enjoyable for both baby and parents... the sound quality is excellent, and the songs are surprisingly not annoying. The table space is well-allocated to different "modalities," including buttons/keys, things that slide (trombone and cello)... my son really likes the frog with banjo (lever and spinner). I'm rating 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons 1) it's so lightweight that any baby pulling up or leaning while playing will knock it over-- our fix of applying adhesive velcro to the bottoms of the four feet has worked for several months now (attached to an interlocking foam playmat on the floor), and 2) it would be more fun if the book in the center of the table had more than one page to flip.
Customer Review: My son LOVES this toy! Summary: 5 Stars
We got this as a baby registry gift, and brought it out for our son when he was 6 months old. He is now 11.5 months, and still plays with it on a daily basis. At first it was a floor toy, and it was a great activity for him as he was learning to sit on his own and improve his balance. When he was learning to pull to stand, we inserted the four feet. It was a steady toy for him to learn to pull himself up, and it was rewarding to him to press the buttons when he did stand up! He LOVES the little frog with the banjo, so cute! He doesn't use the slider part very much, but all the other buttons/activities he uses regularly. It helped him learn to cruise because he could walk all the way around the table. Now he is walking on his own, and he still walks over to this toy to play with it. It has great features, with music, colors, numbers and the alphabet. He loves to dance to the music, and to beat on the "drums". This is a must have toy in my opinion!
