Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Learn & Groove Musical TableCustomer Review: LeapFrog(ging) to the Hospital Summary: 3 Stars
My original expectation of this product was to provide a world of learning and musical fun for my three year-old daughter, Felicity. At first, the LeapFrog Learn and Groove Musical Table seemed to deliver on these expectations. However, things went terribly wrong when my child was overzealous in her enjoyment of the macarana setting. While spinning during the song is encouraged as part of the LeapFrog experience, she continued spinning long after the song had ended.
Still spinning, Felicity inadvertently bumped into another button on the table, activating the trombone slide. The sudden, jarring change in volume level caused her to jump into the air--landing on the adjustable, plastic-molded legs. Felicity and the LeapFrog Learn and Groove table collapsed to the floor.
Thankfully, she escaped major injury. After a couple of hours in the emergency room, my wife and I were relieved Felicity had only suffered a couple of cuts and bruises, in addition to a broken arm. Because of this, I am unable to recommend this product to other parents.
Customer Review: fun toy! Summary: 5 Stars
my daughter LOVES this toy. She first played with this at a friends house when she was about 6 1/2 months old. It entertained her for an hour!! Up until then, nothing held her interest for more than 15 minutes. At daycare, they have this and for a long time I could put her in front of this toy and could make it out the door with no tears (she finally learned that trick). Santa brought this for C-mas and she loves it at home now too. She never tires of it. She loves the banjo and dances to the music. She'll go back and forth between the learning and music mode, but right now mostly loves the music. I have to admit, it is very entertaining even for us -- great colors, music, friendly characters...
The only "cons" are:
1. The Spanish is a little difficult to understand (probably because I don't understand Spanish)
2. I wish the legs were weighted at the bottom because it can tip a little easily when my daughter pulls up -- and she's only 17.5 pounds.
But this is a fantastic toy and I highly recommend it to anyone.
Customer Review: Great all the way around (Literally) Summary: 5 Stars
My 8 month old son and I love this table.
PROS: I put it together in 5 minutes from box to ready to play.
You can leave the legs off if your baby isn't standing yet. I did
b/c we got it when he was 5 months old.
After baby can cruise, it has something fun and educational to do on
every side.
It turns off automatically after a few minutes of non play in order
to save the batteries.
It's tough. My husband has tripped over it twice and knocked it
over- no harm done (except to his shin!)
CONS: It can slide across a Tile or Hardwood floor. I have it on carpet
but still put rubber backing on the bottoms of the legs and it will
not slide.
Baby and parent will get a lot of use and will have a great time with this table. My son has had it since 5 months and still plays with it. I thought I would get it as a "hand me down" and not have to buy it, but my sister's 18 month old still plays with his. So it's gonna last.
Customer Review: Pretty happy with it Summary: 4 Stars
My daughter loves her table. If she starts to get bored with one side, we just turn it around. She's just starting to want to pull up so we put the legs on it. It's not sturdy enough for her to pull up on, so we sit there and hold it for her. We also have to hold it while she's standing. It probably wouldn't require holding if it were on carpet but there's no non-slip material on the bottom of the legs so it just slides around on hard wood, or her foam floor tiles. Not a big deal because we're sitting there with her regardless so she doesn't get hurt. My daughter has a lot of fun with this toy and I really don't see her getting tired of it anytime soon. She's almost 10 months old as of now, and we bought the table when she was probably 5 or 6 months old. It's been fun watching her discover cause and effect with the buttons, door, etc. This hasn't become a problem yet, but I do wish that the page on the "book" in the middle was better made. It's just a piece of printed glossy paper glued on and I can see it eventually getting torn off.
Customer Review: Great music and a lot of fun. Summary: 5 Stars
My son got this as a gift when he was around 7 months old. He just loves it and still plays with it after 3 months. I've seen him get tired of some of his other toys but he keeps coming back to this one. I even like the music on this. With some of his other toys I get tired of hearing the tunes over and over again but this one has great music and sounds that I don't tire from. I love that you can remove the legs and use it as a floor toy. There are so many different things to press on this and my son loves flipping the page and opening and closing the green lid.
This is not very sturdy so if your child leans on it, make sure you sit nearby or place it against a hard surface. My son has tried to pull himself up using this toy and almost fell over with this on top of him. He will also sometimes try to push it around and it is easy for him to push this over. I make sure I am always nearby when he plays with this. Overall it's a wonderful entertaining toy but could be a little sturdier.
