Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Learn & Groove Counting MaracasCustomer Review: Shake It Slowly Summary: 4 Stars
I bought these for my neice for her 1 year old birthday. I read reviews that said the one maraca that lit up and made noise got more children's attention than the one that was a normal maraca, however, my neice preferred the plain one the first time I gave them to her! She liked how she could shake them to her own beat. She didn't quite get how to shake the one that counts, sings, and tells her the colors, but she liked how it lit up....This toy requires a little patience because if it is in the middle of saying a color for example and you shake it again, it won't register and immediately switch the the next color. I think with a little time and help from mom she will put 2 and 2 together that the words match the actions of the toy.
Customer Review: LeapFrog is wonderful.... Summary: 5 Stars
These little maracas, which play in Spanish and English are an awesome toy. My son loves them. I have to say, I wish the other maraca lit up instead of just being a rattle, but that's fine. My son is usally only interested in the main maraca. My son got this just before turning 7 months old for Christmas. I'd have to suggest that you sit your baby up to play with this toy. Laying down leads to tears as they will bop themselves in the mouth, head or eye with the hard plastic toy. It's not that lightweight for little hands and they can't control it very well. Sitting up with this toy allowed for more control and less crying.
Customer Review: Entertaining..not very educational Summary: 4 Stars
I bought this toy as a gift for a friend's child and found that both she as well as my own child enjoyed it and were well entertained. There is no shortage of lights and fun music with counting, and colors. There were two things I thought could have been a bit better about this toy:
1. The words and music only come out of 1 of the maracas, not both
2. There were not enough things being taught or said- it didn't count very far or name the colors for long enough. I don't see it as much of a learning tool, just more of an entertaining toy for children to shake.
Customer Review: A little disappointed Summary: 4 Stars
The only reason I didn't give this toy 5 stars is because it only has one song option. I guess I am comparing it to the Leapfrog music wand that I also got for my 13 month old son for Christmas. This toy does not keep his attention like the other one. I do like that it is a bilingual toy. One maraca plays the music or game and the other one is the actual maraca so my son prefers the one that makes music to the other one when he does play with it. Maybe he will find new interest in it when he's a little older but right now he prefers the music wand over this toy.
Customer Review: Wouldn't Turn Off Summary: 1 Stars
Well, I bought this toy for my friend's, then, one year old daughter. I think she would have had fun with this toy, if the stupid thing would turn off. The little girl played with it for a minute, sat it down to play with other things she had just gotten for Christmas, and it still kept making noises. My friend and I turned the button to 'off' sat it back down and surprise! It still kept making noises. Had it not been for this MAJOR flaw, I would have rated the toy very well. But the point of an off button is so...oh, I don't know...the toy actually shuts off.
