Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game SpongeBob SquarePants Saves the Day

Customer Review: Great game, but defective
Summary: 3 Stars

My daughter got this game for Christmas and LOVES it. I was amazed when she started counting her change and was right, and she said she learned it from this game! Sure, she could just "blindly put coins in the slot" as another reviewer said, but that is not how my child plays. She pays attention to how the coins are adding up and is learning. My only problem is that the game will suddenly freeze up in the middle of a game and the leapster has to be turned off and on again, and so what she was playing is lost. I am going to try contacting leap frog and see if I can get a replacement.

Customer Review: Fun, teaches phonics, cute Spongebob
Summary: 5 Stars

It's fun and educational. I like the bubble shoot out where you have to shoot the blended consonants to make a word float up to the top of the screen. My daughter is learning a lot from this. It hasn't replaced the phonics work we do at home, but it is definitely helping to keep concepts fresh in her mind between times that we work on things.

This cartridge definitely has more cute factor than the others- using a licensed character to teach the concepts... But it's working. My daughter loves her Leapster. She's almost five...

Customer Review: SPONGEBOB IS A GOOD LEARNING GAME
Summary: 5 Stars

It is fun! And most importantly educational. It has a game where you have to put the exact amount of money in the game slot. My kids like that part. They are 6 and 7 and ask me all the time if they can play their spongebob game, we are a two leapster family but they have to share their cartridges. Next year my youngest will want one too, I am sure, as she wants to play theirs, but she is just too little yet, another year she will be 4 so will check into getting her one of her own then...

Customer Review: Silly Sauce
Summary: 5 Stars

My five-year-old son just received this game last week. He can not put it down. He especially loves the silly sauce game and the money. He has a deep fascination for numbers and money, so those games come "easily" to him. He'll be 6 in a couple of months.

I agree with the other posters that say this is not for a child under the age of 5, not if you want them to actually play and learn from the games and not just guess at them. Spongebob is a hit in this house!

Customer Review: *** SpongeBob!!!!.
Summary: 5 Stars

I am six. I got this a year ago when I was 5. I think the kids will like the Kitchen Chemistry, Counting Claw, and the one where you get griddle grease best! I learned a lot from the Bubble Scrub game where you try to spell the words. That was pretty hard for me. The rest of it was very easy. Basically all of it is pretty good. This is the end of my journaling on this website. Bye- Bye. I think you'll like my suggestions for toys.
