Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game SpongeBob SquarePants Saves the DayCustomer Review: More excited than my child!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I love all of the Leapfrog products so this was very exciting to see. I had considered buying my 5 year old a Gameboy Advanced but I really didn't care for how small the viewing screen is or it's size in general. For someone of her age, the Leapster has a larger screen and buttons that are easier for her to control and handle and the graphics are very good. It also uses touch screen / PDA technology so she can write right on the screen. I love how they incorporate the concepts from games like "Frogger" into a game with a rabbit and developing multiplication problems. It's fun to play and learn from. I don't feel that this is as fragile as a gameboy advanced either so that's why I felt that this toy deserved a 5 star worthy rating. Overall, I think this is a really great, first time electronic game for a child of my daughter's age (5).
Customer Review: Leapster Games are the Best! Summary: 5 Stars
I Love Leapster and the games kids can get! The games are the latest craze's (i.e: Star Wars, Spongebob, Cars, etc.). The games are educational, and the kids don't mind one bit, and neither do I! I don't feel like they are wasting their brains when they are playing Leapster! The Spongebob game helped my 2nd grade daughter with money, where she "wouldn't" listen to me, she learned in her game! The games have age levels, however, I have three kids, ages 10, 8, and 5, and they all play the games regardless of age levels, and love it! Great learning system, lots of fun!!!! I wouldn't hesitate to buy a new system if the one we have broke down, which we've had for 3 yrs. so far!!!!
Customer Review: 8 yo loves this game Summary: 5 Stars
Bought the Leapster for my 3 kids (8, 6 and 3 1/2) and my 8 yo especially likes the SpongeBob game. He is learning words, math, money counting (or reinforcing -- he already knows some of these skills -- 3rd grade). He said that "this is better than a gameboy -- a lot more fun". He has a gameboy advance SP about about 30+ games. Imagine that -- and he learns something with the Leapster. I am loving it. I will buy more software as it comes out (also already bought Dora -- 3 yr old loves, Kindergarten, 1st grade and Mr. Pencil's Learn to Draw as well as SpongeBob). Would love to get my hands on Math Baseball for my 3rd grader to practice multiplication math facts!!!!
Customer Review: stick to manufacturer's age Summary: 5 Stars
I saw this item on several websites with a recommended age of 3-6 years. I bought it for my son today (he got the leapster for Christmas) The age recommendation on the box is 5-8 yrs. My son is 4 and although he likes Sponge Bob, he told me he can't do it & asked me to play the games while he watches. Even the level 1 games are conciderably more difficult than the games on the cartridge that came with the toy. One section involves counting coins. I'm sure he will "grow into" the games and learn them from watching me- he sits on my lap while I play. I would definitely recommend this one for a slightly older child.
Customer Review: My nephew 2 1/2 years old - graduated Summary: 5 Stars
I got my nephew a spongebob and leapster for christmas. I asked my sister how he does? She told me he got so excited and was so thankful that I got him a leapster which he is only 2 and half years old. I was informed he is already graduated from the spongebob that is only for 5 to 8 years old. I would rate this for any child to use not just ability of age but under the limit age will be able to repeat and hear them as often as they can to build their intelliegent. I can't wait to get him more leapster. He's already asking for more leapster stuff. I must say he's a leaster freak and plays it all day long.
