Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Leapster Learning Game SpongeBob SquarePants Saves the DayCustomer Review: A Great Gift for a Great Kid Summary: 5 Stars
I got this for my four year-old niece for Christmas... She's a SpongeBob fanatic, so I was pretty sure I couldn't go wrong. She immediately popped it into her Leapster and played with it for the rest of the day. She was pretty focused on the Crab Claw game and seemed to really enjoy it... After I told her to stop and listen to SpongeBob count the money she was dropping into the machine instead of just throwing it in until it switched to the claw... well, she was learning something without realizing she was learning... which is the whole point to this "edutainment" thing, right?
The animation, itself, is a bit lacking, but it's SpongeBob and Squidward and the whole gang... and that's all she needs to have a good time... and learn a little something while she's at it.
I would have liked to see a record option on the music "game," so she could tinker around and then listen back to what she created... but just having her interested in something for more than five minutes at a time is awesome enough.
Overall, she was having a blast with it, so it was money well spent.
Customer Review: Very impressive, wish I had this as a kid. Summary: 4 Stars
Let me first say I'm in no way a fan of Spongebob, I have a couple of 20 something buddies that are borderline obsessed, but for me it just doesn't do it. With that said, I know my nephew cant get enough of the little yellow square. I decided for Christmas to get him a leapfrog game system and the Spongebob game.
I must say while the games are a bit pricey the whole system is actually really intuitive and fun for kids. My nephew loves the math games, and actually takes spare change around the house and counts it out into piles.
I do feel alot of the games are memory driven, and once your son/daughter gets it down they wont feel obligated to play the game anymore. Spongebob surprisingly has been my nephews favorite since December.
Id suggest this game if you want something to entertain your children while they learn. They wont even know its actually good for them!
Customer Review: They won't even know they are learning! Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great game. I would not recommend it for children under 4 unless your child is just extremely advanced. My 4 yo can play some areas of the game easily, but the word areas are more difficult and he becomes frustrated. BUT for kindergarteners this game is just right. My 6 yo is learning a lot, and unlike other learning software, she doesn't mind playing it because it's fun and of course there is the very cute and charismatic Sponge Bob. The goal of the game is to get ingredients to make a new secret sauce. Upon completing the different areas of the game you are given some of the ingredients to make the sauce. So the children get the sense of reward for all of their work. That's been enough motivation for my daughter. It teaches counting, math, letters, word building, and there's music (I'm probably leaving a few things out) It's wonderful, a must have for all leapster owners.
Customer Review: Spongebob+Leapster=Learning! Summary: 5 Stars
I highly recommend this Spongebob cartridge for the Leapster system! My little boy is a big spongebob fan and on Christmas morning he got from Santa a leapster and some Leapster games, of course Spongebob is one of his favorites. My little boy is almost 4 and he completely understands each game included on the spongebob cartridge and in the 3 months we have had this game he is already going to higher levels with the game. It teaches while letting your child have fun and that is what is the most important, if your child is having fun while learning they will continue to keep learning!
This spongebob cartridge teaches the values of money, colors, music game and more. The voices sound the same as on the cartoon and it keeps my little boy intrested in playing it still after 3 months he plays this game on a daily basis!
I would suggest this leapster cartridge for all!
Customer Review: Great product but my cartridge was deffective Summary: 5 Stars
This is an excellent product. My 5 years old felt immediately in love with it. The thing that I appreciate most is how leapster breaks down activities into manageable parts. This is an excellent method to teach more complex to kids.HOWEVER, my cartridge was deffective. Well, at least customer service told me so. It seemed to be more like a software problem since I simply could not change screens at the "musical garden" part of the game. I called customer service and they promptly offered me to send me a replacement. But, this is not the level of quality I would expect after forking 25 bucks for this kind of software. This particular cartridge has a lot of fun games, but I believe it is in light side of teaching hardcore skills. If you are looking for something more educational probably you should get another cartridge like the "Pre-K" or "1st grade" ones.
