Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Leapster Carrying CaseCustomer Review: Accident waiting to happen Summary: 1 Stars
The problem with this case is that if you zip up your Leapster even once in the case while a game is in your Leapster it will most likely break the zipper on the case, and make the case entirely worthless. This is precisely what happened to our case.
While older children may be thoughtful enough to avoid doing this, by five year old son is not, and I doubt most other young children are -- no matter how much they are threatened by their parents.
So, our case lasted us about two weeks. So I bought a Fisher-Price Pixter case on sale for $10, and it works much, much better. It carries all the games, and carries the Leapster with a game inserted -- and I think it protects the Leapster better as well.
Customer Review: Returned this case Summary: 4 Stars
I had originally bought this case, but returned it when I found the Leapster backpack on Amazon.com. It is padded on the side that lays against the body, just like most backpacks. It holds the cables, game & up to 10 cartridges. There is no damage done if a cartridge is left in the game. The cartridges are held in their own zippered pocket on the front. The game and cables have their own elastic pockets in the main compartment. I chose the backpack mainly because my son could carry it on his shoulder and would be less likely to drop it or lay it down and leave it. I believe I would have been satisfied with the smaller case if it had been my only choice, but I still like the backpack better.
Customer Review: What do you expect? Summary: 4 Stars
So this case is getting a bad rap. I am happy with it. I did not expect something that would 100% protect the Leapster. My 3 1/2 year old has done great with it. He sometimes leaves the cartidges in when he zips it, has dropped it (of course) and takes it everywhere he goes. I feel that I have gotten my $24.99 out of it, especially compared to the backpack that offers a lot of storage but no protection. If you want your Leapster completely protected, opt for bubblewrap. The toys were made for young children, and are pretty durable themselves. Throw in the case and I think you are in good shape, as long as you dont have more than 5-6 games in at once. It survives our house!
Customer Review: A MUST HAVE!! Summary: 5 Stars
I am not sure why so many are giving this case a bad review. We have had this case for my son's leapster lmax for more than 2 years (since he was 3 years old) and it has held up really well! We have had no problems with the zipper or the outer pocket that holds the games. It protects his leapster well, even though some view it as "too soft". I find it sturdy and durable for even the really young users. It has held 7 cartridges in the outer pocket and 1 left in the leapster fully zipped. He takes it everywhere! I have 3 children ages 1, 2 and 5 and they all use it. I am buying a second for my middle child - I just wish it came in pink. Don't hesitate to buy!
Customer Review: Finally an education toy that's fun!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
My 5 year old got this for Christmas and plays with it at least 10 times a day (which is rare for him). My almost 3 year old now wants one for his birthday, which he will get because of all the fighting they do over it! The color and graphics are awesome and the games are not too complicated for either of my kids. I was alittle worried the pen would dent the screen when my rough boys used it, but it is a solid toy! And the best thing is even I get the games unlike all the video games that are out there, so if they need help or want me to play with them it's fun for all of us! Thank you Leapster and keep coming out with more innovative games!!!!!
