Toys and Games Reviews of LeapFrog Leapster Carrying CaseCustomer Review: It goes everywhere Summary: 4 Stars
I purchased this carrying case for my son who just turned 6. It seemed that my son would leave his Leapster out all over the place and I began to get concerned that it would get scratched or stepped on, or perhaps my 2 yr old would spill something on it. I spotted this case online and purchased it without hesitation. My son now stores his game unit and cartridges properly and it goes with us everywhere. I noticed another review where someone couldn't zip the case shut with a game cartridge still attached....I don't have that problem at all. The item zips perfectly and has a great outside handle. For extra cartridge storage, there is a pouch on the backside that has a very sturdy velcro to keep it secured shut. The only issue I have with the item is that it doesn't hold the charging equipment.
Customer Review: A Necessity Summary: 4 Stars
Overpriced? Yeah, most things are. (Hence, minus one star.) A necessity. You betcha. Having lost my child's first leapster to a few spills I was determined to protect my investment with the second. Though not a hard case as some would prefer, I would not do without this handy accessory. Not only does the case keep the leaptser clean and scratch-free, it has also endured many accidents. The handle is convenient and makes it simple for little hands to carry. In fact, kids can easily access and store the unit and games themselves...and the bonus feature? Everything stays together. No more searching for lost cartridges.
You paid alot for the leapster and the cartidges. This is worth having to keep everything intact and like new.
Customer Review: Leapster Case- OK, but what other choice do you have? Summary: 5 Stars
We bought the Leapster case for $ and were slightly disappointed. It is made of molded foam which seems flimsy, but is actually pretty durable. It zips closed and has a carrying handle that is very useful. The software is stored in a pocket on the back which is only made of black nylon and mesh. There are no dividers to keep the cartidges separated or the titles visible. As creative as LeapFrog is, I would expect the case to have been a little better designed. It does do a decent job protecting the Leapster, and I don't know of any alternative that would work better,... After having paid $ the Leapster and $ for a couple software titles, the $ investment for a case is not so bad if it will keep everything safe from damage and being lost.
Customer Review: Leapster Case Summary: 3 Stars
I'm not thrilled with this case. I can't believe they charge so much for it. Luckily, I got it when I purchased the whole Leapster combo pack and it came with the case. The case is a must and I don't have a big problem with the quality. My main complaint is that you cannot fit the headphones in the case with the Leapster. It would have been so nice to be able to fit those inside instead of having to carry around the headphones and cord seperately. I also agree that the pocket for the games should have a zipper instead of the velcro. I haven't had a problem with games falling out but it worries me that my son will carry it upside or something and the games will fall out. I wish thy would either make a deluxe case or modify this one.
Customer Review: The Backpack is much better Summary: 2 Stars
Overall, I think LeapFrog is the best source for kids' game-type learning. The kids think they are playing, but we all know they are learning along the way. We were looking for a safe way to carry around my daughter's Leapster when we found the GameBoy backpack, and the backpack is a much better find than the Leapster case. Believe me -- this is the ONLY time I am not recommending a LeapFrog product, but rather am in favor of something else. The backpack fits tightly at first, but stretches just enough that my daughter can now easily zip and unzip the game area herself. There is quite a bit of storage for games (she has 5 now and there is still room for more...) Before you buy the Leapster case, try out the GameBoy backpack.
